The Kiwi Connection
Very sad, just been talking about it on the radio here and playing some of his songs.
marvin
Most of us here are 40+, so as far as some of our musical heroes are concerned, we're approaching the inevitable. I just look at some of those who have passed in the last year, all at a relatively young age (under 70), and time is not on their side. R.I.P. Davy, and thanks for the good memories and wonderful songs.
Art
Very sad to hear this. He was quite talented and seemed like a very good-natured genuine person.

Guest Fresh
I just heard this on the news a few hours ago. I'm really tired of losing people that I like. He was on a TV show a few years ago and looked really good. I shall miss him. RIP
Raspbernie
Really sad. Loved him and the Monkees. Davy devoted his life to entertainment! Unfortunate that Mike Nesmith refused to do a full reunion with the band while everyone was still alive. Bernie

Tony Cartmill
Along with Mickey, 2 great lead singer voices! Instantly recognizable, good comic actor, a total entertainer! Someone here posted Davy singing at a recent Seth Swirsky B-day party. He still sounded great! RIP...
ECatw
I heard the shocking news, hard to believe he's gone now. Rest in peace, Davy.
MJ
To the man who I had pinned up on my wall for at least 2 years and who constantly rode in the back seat of our car when we went out to the stores (yes he was the fantasy man who I dated at age 6 lol) and to his family and friends - he will be missed greatly by all who loved him. I am so thankful I got to see them play last May and that I got to hear him sing Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow ..... Bernie you KNOW that song will get to me every time.... RIP Davy.... marvin
To the man who I had pinned up on my wall for at least 2 years...Ouch! I hope it was a poster and not actually Davy who was pinned to your wall. If Davy was only 66, he really was just a kid when he was with the Monkees. Both Peter and Mike have posted some heart-felt comments.
Reid C.
A sad day. Davey was a real talent. RIP.
Matthew C. Clark
I saw The Monkees (minus Mike Nesmith) at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan back on August 5, 1986 when they celebrated their 20th Anniversary. I did NOT see Davy Jones back in August of 2000 solo wise when he was at the Bay City, Michigan's Pig Gig Festival back then. R.I.P. dianed
This is so sad ! He was my first teenage heart-throb. I’m so glad I had the chance to see the Monkees Reunion Tour back in August with Giro and JohnP. The show was phenomenal ! He was taken way too soon. LC
Just backtracked on this thread. For a lot of us who just barely missed Beatlemania, the Monkees were "it" and when we outgrew them, the more serious power-pop of Raspberries came along just in time. For a few innocent years, though, Saturday night meant The Monkees on TV, and they seemed to have new records coming out all the time, good ones, despite the criticism of the "rawk press." Sad day....
goodbye girl
So sad about this...huge Monkees fan and still listen to Headquarters quite often. Thank you Davy for years of great music and entertainment. Miss you!!
Wendy-Ann
From my facebook:It's a sad day in my heart, when the "boy" who was my 2nd crush is taken. I think when I stop weeping, I will remember how lucky I was that God granted me a chance meeting with him. I love you, Davy. Thank you for being a sweet person and letting me know that shorter guys don't mind taller girls.andI found the photo of Davy Jones and me in Vegas, Nov. 30, 1996. I was soooooo excited that I finally had gotten to meet him! He was so cute and sweet. And the one thing I remember was that he commented on my height (in a very good way) as I have previously mentioned in an early post. Ok, I did have on 2 inch heels, to be fair.PS: Thank you MJ for encouraging me to go and see the Monkees (again) last July. It is a decision I now will never regret! Matthew C. Clark
My older brother Mark had The "Monkees" debut & "More Of The Monkees" (both in MONO) on Colgems when I was a little baby (2 or 3 years old) but I scratched them both on a Winnie The Pooh record player!! Glad that Rhino Records reissued the catalog back in 1986 & again in 1995 on CD (with bonus tracks). Matt
