marlene
I jumped up out of my chair, and was screaming at the TV, Ira !! What an exciting run by Tebow !! He's definitely "got heart"! GO BRONCOS !
angelina
If I didn't like Tebow so much as a person and competitor I'd SCREAM over last night's game. Well for a Jets fan like me there's always basketball.....oh wait...no NBA!
Tony Cartmill
I feel sooooooooooooo sorry for the Jets. If they could just fix Tebow's THROWING MECHANICS, Broncos could go deep into playoffs with that suddenly monster defense!Just a small thing for a quarterback to fix... ira
S-O-L...Tim Tebow is a quarterback for the Denver Broncos...a deeply religious man...who wasn't supposed to make it in professional football...he's unique and fascinating! GMan
He's no John Elway, but the kid does have heart.
ira
It REALLY seems like God is on this religious man's side...This S.O.B. just beat the Bears after again being INEFFECTIVE for three quarters...
GMan
....And their kicker's leg!!
JohnO
I was gonna say. . . .in every damn one of the Broncos games that Tebow "won", his team's defense has shut down their opponent most of the second half, and Denver's running backs have gained a ton of yards - and, as Giro points out, their kicker has saved them numerous times. If people want to blather on about his heart, that's fine, but he's also the biggest (250-260 pounds) and strongest QB in the league physically. To me, the most positive thing he's done is to make people appreciate that there's more to quarterbacking than just passing. That kid didn't win the Heishman trophy by not knowing what he's doing. . . .although I do find it a bit humorous that such a devoutly religious sort played for Urban Meyer and that University of Florida program, which, in any given year, probably had more players locked up in local jails than any other college tootball program! Paulie Mississippi
Tebow's a solid "crunch time" player, but his biggest attribute is that he makes others want to excel for him. The Denver receiver, Thomas, had three dropped passes prior to the 4th quarter, but... made important cathces... difficult catches... late in the game... And the "magic" that seems to guide Tim rubs off on other teams it seems... forcing them to either play too conservative, as the Bears did in the 4th... or to find a way to lose, as Marion Barber did twice... Meanwhile, Tebow has the 4th quarter and overtime stats that nobody short of Rodgers or Brady could be expected to have... A lot of it might be smoke and mirrors and luck, but the bottom line is wins... and Tebow is now 6 and 1 as a starter and his team is in 1st place now... JohnO
The Bears played conservatively because of Tebow? No offense, but with Cutler out, replaced by a QB who turned the ball over 6-7 times against Oakland and KC the past 2 weeks, plus Forte out (who was leading the league in total yardage before getting hurt last week), I'm not really sure if they had any real options. They scored 3 points last week against KC - and Tebow had nothing to do with that! Barber is a hack 2nd stringer, with a history of fumbling. And frankly, I was hoping the Bears would knock Tebow out of the game this week, but no such luck. . .

JohnO
Guys - Tebow could wind up being a Hall of Famer, for all we know. Beating the likes of a 2-11 Vikings and an offensively crippled Bears, though, and struggling to do it, doesn't prove anything yet. He's beaten 1 playoff team so far - the Jets, another 8-5 team. I've been an NFL fan for over 50 years, and what this looks exactly like is the '61 or '62 SF 49ers, who started using a shotgun offense on every play, and ran off 6 or 7 wins because it was a novelty and none of their oponents' defensive coordinators could (or would) change things around to deal with it. Finally, George Allen, Chicago's defensive guru, studied game films and devised a means to stop it. . . . . and the 49ers wound about .500 for the season. And the 49ers were beating their opponents by 3-4 TDs per game, not having to come back every game. I suspect the league will catch up to Teabow. Hell, his own GM, John Elway, would like to drfat a QB to replace him.
JohnO
Also, I have yet to hear any so-called football expert talk about Tebow's, IMO, greatest contribution to his club. . . . by changing their offense around to accommodate his strength and minimize his weakness, they're running the ball twice as much as passing, which leads to much more time off the field for their defense, which is better rested, come the 4th quarter, when the game's on the line. Paulie Mississippi
Wow... John, you sound a little bit like me talking about the Yankees here... why the disdain? Who cares how you win if you're winning? A team sport should be more about team than about one member. The NFL has shifted to a format where if you don't have that "star" QB, you can not win... and then Tebow comes along and goes against the grain, supports and promotes his team... his fans love him and his team... And maybe you're right, his running a "run-first (or at least often)" type of offense keeps his D well rested. That and his lack of turnovers... (Yes, I know he lost a fumble and was intercepted yesterday, but it was his first in the past 5 games I think... and just his second INT against 11 TD's... a ratio that rivals any other QB I believe... JohnO
Paulie - My disdain is more for the media and fans giving him most of the credit for his team's accomplishments. . . . . . .and for people yammering about what he "stands for". . . . which is????? I'm sure there are other NFL players who are equally religious, but who choose not to make a show of it.
James
Risking being disdained even more, I'll yammer away again:I love Tim Tebow and what he stands for.:-)
hollies65
Talk about a non story!I like Tebow, have no problem with him being vocal about his faith, and his team has been winning games they should have lost. But enough already! LOL!
JohnO
I might not even have any disdain for Tebow or his fans, if one of them would please explain what he stands for. . . .more running in the offense?. . .more QB sneaks? . . . more 250-260 pound QBs? . . . more Heishman trophy winners who, unlike OJ, probably don't kill people?. . . .QBs with more alliterative names? Inquiring minds want to know.(if it's the religion. . . .Reggie White was a minister, but I don't recall him kneeling in prayer after sacks. . . )
JohnO
Oh my, I've offended Steve. I apologize.
Paulie Mississippi
I'm not really a fan of all the "what he stands for" yammer either... but players of both baseball and football have made a show of pointing to the sky or talking about Jesus when they have a good game... I'd like to see one of 'em blame Jesus when they fail... or maybe give credit to Buddah or Allah if that's their faith... I'm not big on the whole "religion in sports" thing, simply because if you believe God answers sports-prayers, then you have to believe God shows favoritism to some of his believers over others... I do like the "idea" that Tebow is untarnished by his stardom, but I also know better... At some point there is gonna be some dirt that sticks to him, and the problem with having a largely "Christian" fan-base is that when you get your dirty-little-secret exposed, they are the least likely to stick with you...
