Raspbernie
They said it would never happen...THEY WERE WRONG! A long time ago in a Cleveland suburb far, far away, those lucky enough to be there saw the impossible happen. Four old friends plugged in and played. And oh, did they play. From the jangly opening chords of "I Wanna Be With You" to the rip-roaring encore of "Go All The Way," the audience was transported in a rock and roll time machine to bear witness to Raspberries—live. In a word, it was... incredible. In two words, it was... fucking incredible! And so, for that momentous night... let me be the first to say... to Eric, Wally, Dave and Jim, the Overdubs, the roadies, the crew, their families and friends, and every single fan who ever stopped by EC.com to celebrate Raspberries and their music: THANK YOU! In the words of one of the greatest dreamers of our time, Walt Disney, "It's kind of fun to do the impossible." marathon mama
Thanks, Bernie, for keeping the memory alive. Here is a video slideshow I found on Youtube showing pictures from that reunion concert:
Aventurine
Thanks, Bernie. I was not able to go to their reunion concert. Although Eric said that "Raspberries will not tour again", I was waiting...... ] I ordered "the Raspberries very special DELUXE GIFT SET " last week. Because I had only CD and DVD(5 songs). I will enjoy it.

In August 2004, we were vacationing in Jersey and I made the trip to Bernie's place for his "Weekend" get-together. Even though the news had not been released yet, the gleam in Bernie's eye told me that something was indeed happening. By the time I returned home a couple of weeks later, the news was out, and the wheels were in motion for me to figure out how I was getting from Calgary to Cleveland. It was the culmination of a 32-year dream.
blackhawkpat
An amazing night for sure. Never thought I would get the opportunity to see the band play live again, much less three times in person in three different states. Think I'll put the DVD on and celebrate the anniversary of this great memory of fantastic music and wonderful friends. It should be an annual event on the day after Thanksgiving! Instead of Black friday, we could call it Raspberry friday!
darlene
Sitting at the table at Weekend at Bernie's with Raspberries fans I had just met, somebody said, "It's too bad I'll never get to see them." I said, "I know you will indeed get to see Raspberries in your lifetime. They WILL get back together because they were meant to be." My newfound friends looked at me like, "Yeah, right. You're crazy." I didn't catch the "sparkle" in "Raspbernie's" eye. But in a short time, "the dream" was on its way to becoming a reality. I'll never forget that night, sitting there in the darkened HOB, practically in a daze, holding hands behind my back with both Marvin and Marlene, who were in the row behind me, heart pounding and tears rolling down my cheeks when that curtain went up and there they were, playing my favorite Raspberries song (I Wanna Be With You) no less! I walked on air all night and for weeks...months! "The dream" came through after 32 years. Thanks a million guys. And thanks a million Bernie, because it all started...HERE. --Dar
seattlesteve
I've never been able to make Bernie's weekend bash, but I was there for the first Cleveland reunion show with some of you about 5 feet from the stage in front of that lead singer guy, and have to say it was a goose bumps momement when the curtain went up. It reminded me of June 10, 1976, when McCartney came out of the live performance witness protection program and I saw him play at Seattle's Kingdome (where the Wings tour's legacy performance was filmed), and I enjoyed similar attendance proxemity.Based on the videos and recordings I have, my subjective opinion is that the last Raspberries live never sounded better, better than they were even in the day. It's recorded, filmed, and preserved for power pop affeciandos to study forever. It was a clinic. Exceptional. Buy the dvd guys.
Matthew C. Clark
Wish that someone do "Overnight Sensation (Hit Record)" on "American Idol" then maybe Eric & The Raspberries would make another comeback in the season finale!!! sllvnbil
Wow!!! Watching the slide show reminds me of how lucky I was,,,to be living in Cleveland Ohio,,, at the right time to be involved in such a special project as the Raspberries Reunion. Makes me homesick for Cleveland!!
darlene
It's WE who were lucky that we got to see YOU playing onstage that night and the whole tour! You were perfect with Raspberries. Eric has always had unerring and visionary imagination that cut like a laser beam through all the possibilities to know what would work and it did INDEED work! Raspberries in 2004 were even better than they were back in the day, and I was there to see them back then. They were like nothing else when I first saw them and thought they could never be better than they were in the '70s. 2004 proved me wrong. It's such an honor and a pleasure having been able to hear you play and get to know you and Debbie as well! --Dar
