Any cat lovers out there?

How true. I would love to snuggle up to that Lynx. I watched a show one time on TV about wild cats and at the end of the show, the host made the comment that having a house cat is the next best thing to getting real close to the wild cats, only a miniature version.

She weights about 75 lbs...probably would be a few less in the wild.

After the 'Tweety Bird' incident in college, a mutual love of cats is what brought my wife and I together. She had a stray she had just rescued from behind a grocery store and I brought her a bag of cat food smile

Thanks for your concern Miriam. The 'kitty' is in an area called Stallion Springs, where we used to live. It's at the far west end of the Tehachapi area; in fact, a block west of my old house it's straight down 4000 feet! Anyway, the fire is on the extreme east end near the windmills, so kitty is safe.

Just for fun, here's the view to the west (hope you don't get wobbly knees ;):

When we had our old dog, Mindy, our cat, Trixie, used to smack her all the time. I pitied Mindy because she was 15 years old and hard of hearing and her eyesight wasn't the best, but she just ignored Trix like he wasn't even there. He hardly ever hits our son's dog, Jordi, or our beagle, Jake. Don't know why he picked on poor old Min all the time.

Kirk, gorgeous cat and gorgeous wife too! You hit the jackpot! But so did she--she has a gorgeous husband. (Your wife, not the cat!)

I grew up with a wonderful dog, Jingles, who was a dachshund, with a little something else mixed in. He was the rake of the neighborhood--the world was his oyster. We had him from the time I was 2 until I was 15, then he had throat cancer and the dr. gave him more anesthesia to put him to sleep during the operation because it was too far gone. We were all devastated, as he was a true member of the family.

Later, a friend had an adorable cat, and I was won over by kitties as well. I love dogs and cats both. How could anyone not?

Thanks for sharing these gorgeous photos!

:)--Dar
