"Perfect Power Pop"

You Ec.com old-timers know that this is my favorite Power Pop record of all-time.

What is your favorite Power Pop record?

We ALL know that for many of you it's "Go All The Way"..so let's accept that as a given...and let's hear your favorites after Eric and the boys.

(BTW...PLEASE...Bernie...Tim.. Diane...Don't throw me off the site for picking the Searchers over the 'berries for my #1..

Tony C. will vouch for the fact that not only do I have NO musical taste...but worse than that my musical appreciation stopped in 1968. ;))

Steve...as you know...people living in the Renaissance...did not know they were part of it....It's a term that was dubbed later...

I think a record can have "Dual Citizenship" as a member of The British Invasion" and containing the elements which in hindsight has been deemed "Power Pop".

No matter..we agree on the main point...Great Record Indeed!

My buddy "G"..as always....is musically on target again...(BTW...you should hear his band doin' "Anna"...a GREAT "Lost Hit" by the Beatles if there is such a thing)...

But "G" put me in the mood to watch...then post...Nick's biggest U.S. hit...a TRUE Power Pop Classic...

Ira, that's the beautiful Carlene Carter in the video with Nick and Rockpile. She is the daughter of June Carter Cash and was Johnny's step-daughter. She and Nick were married briefly. I guess all their excesses ruined their marriage. Nick was an alcoholic and she was hooked on smack. Too too bad.

Dave...GMan...I LOVED what you guys have brought to this thread.

Here's another Power Pop classic...with..(and you know I like this)...another Jewish Boy leading the band (just like in a certain group that has brought us here)...extolling "Teen Angst" in the spirit of Eric at his best in his Raspberries days.

G.Man

and of course, you mustn't fail to mention the chauffeur driver of the mid-1970's black Mercedes was none other than the fabulous Dave Edmunds.....

You are absolutely right, Mel! Actually the whole band is in the video....on guitar...the GREAT Billy Bremner....and on drums...."Smashing" Terry Williams!

Wendy...I couldn't agree more.."No Matter What" is inscribed in the Bible Of Power Pop".

(Oh BTW...there's the plot for a Power Pop Teenage Angst song about how two of MY best friends..GMan and Curlew are suddenly chatting about Nick Lowe like lovebirds...and Ira's out in the cold. crying)

Hi there! I would like to interject here. This song and video to me was nothing but creepy. Close to pedophilia in my opinion.

Do I think young boys look at older women this way? YES! My nephew's friends looked at me and my sister that way. In fact, that's when I found out what MILF meant. UGH! GROSS!

But all in all...when I hear this song or see this video...it creeps me out. I personally see this as more new wave than power pop. But...to each his own.
