These Recent Deaths.....

...of two of our board members, have really shook me up. It got me to thinking that, God forbid, should something happen to one of us, that someone would let us know here, whether a spouse, a sibling, a friend, etc.

When I read that Gail had passed, it made me think, "man, it seemed like I just talked to her on here", but when I went to her Facebook, I see people posting things about her passing away back in January!!!!! I'm almost embarassed to write that, knowing that at least six months had gone by since I'd heard from her.

I've been on this site since the first year it was created. It made me learn to use a computer, as an IT Tech at my job taught me how to use the internet when she found the site for me, after always hearing me playing Eric's music in my office. Back then, we used our email addresses as our monikers, as some of you may recall. Lots of fighting back then! LOL

I've made some lifetime friends here, but I've also seen some of them leave, some angry, some bored, some asked to leave, and some, sadly, have died. There are others that I miss, that I have no idea what happened to? Just "poof"...gone!Many have congregated over on Facebook, and feel free to add me there(my link is below), but this is the place that always feels like home.

I've prayed for people and I've prayed with people here. I've had people privately tell me things you wouldn't tell your shrink! Affairs, divorces, medical issues, births, deaths, sports, religion, and yes, even MUSIC has been discussed on the net, on the phone, and even in person! One former member once poured her heart out to me for two and a half hours on the phone on something she was dealing with, when Tommy disappeared on his phone napping, and left us alone. Amazing how you never have met a person, but can click like that, isn't it?

So, it might be a little odd to think about, but I'd just ask everyone to let someone close to you know what a family we have here and if anything ever happens, please get hold of us, okay?

After all, that's what family does, right?

I give that idea 5 stars!

I rarely actually rate a topic, but you can... Carol... a small link at the top for actual ratings...

Hopefully no more of us will leave... for any reason... in the foreseeable future, but it is inevitable that we will someday... I agree that as a sort of extended family, we should try to make sure someone knows to post here... frown

I have often wondered what happened to Wicked Gail. I had sent her a PM back in about February, I didn't know of her passing, and asked how she's doing. So sorry to hear she's gone. I think it's an excellent idea to let family members know about this site in case something unforeseen does happen to any of us here. I wonder about some others that I don't hear from anymore. Are they ok or what?

I concur. And I also wish when people decide to leave, they'd let us know. I know sometimes when someone makes an "I'm leaving" post, people think they're doing it to get attention, but I've always thought of it as considerate. Kazumi disappeared some time ago, and I can't tell you how often I think of her and wonder if she's okay. I wish she had said goodbye, so we'd at least have known something didn't happen to her.

Pat, that was an awesome post above. Great thoughts. Like everyone else here, I really value the friends I've made at EC.com. And you're certainly one of the folks who has been helpful to me on phone calls and in e-mails, so... thanks! (And what have I done for you, but turned you on to fantasy baseball — yikes! I hope you can forgive me! haha )

Best,

LC

OMG I've come out of retirement with the reinstatement of Marv! I also wanted to post about Gail - I was very sorry to hear of her death.

MJ,

How's the bass coming? I'm figuring you should be able to effortlessly knock "The Real Me" out of the park by now!

Bass playing is going well Bernie thanks for asking. Been playing Good Vibrations, Heat of the Moment, Just My Imagination, Hey Joe, What's New Pussycat, the Immigrant Song, you know the usual stuff lol. Can't play any Who yet though - not even close to an Entwhistle version of anything lol.

In the end, all that matters is to take care of the ones we love. Be friends, be happy.

I want to expand on this.

In the end, be kind to everyone, whenever possible, not just loved ones as one never knows when a stranger may become a friend (or a loved one). And remember, actions speak louder than words...

I agree Wendy. There are angels walking among us. The Bible advocates kindness to all because we "might be entertaining angels unawares."

There have been those quiet people in your life (I've even met some trading on eBay, believe it or not) who are literally angels. They do amazing things for others, even strangers, but do it quietly, anonymously or want no reward nor even any recognition. They continually bolster other people up, provide shoulders to cry on, help people and are saints on earth. One never really knows the why and how people sometimes seem to magically cross our paths at just the right time, but I do believe they are "sent."

I don't think Kazumi left EC.com intentionally. I have tried to find her and she has moved from her apartment. Her phone was disconnected a long time ago. I have tried without success to contact the print shop above which her apartment was located to find out what happened to her. I'm still trying.

I sincerely hope nothing terrible happened to her. She adored this website and Eric and Raspberries and their music, and loved everyone here. I would bet she didn't leave intentionally. I miss her terribly.

:)--Darlene
