Raspberrybelle
Have you ever worked for or with someone that was memorable in a bad way?I worked with a woman who was almost not human. She had terrible digestion problems, if you know what I mean, and many nights after work I inhaled and exhaled as deeply as I could just to get the odor out of my lungs. She also insisted on blocking access with her chair to necessary items needed for work by sitting right in front of them. When we reached for items she would lean forward or to the side and "let us have it" (I don't mean the work items). At first I assumed she couldn't help it and we all have accidents but two things changed my mind. For one, when she was absent we all agreed to move the items we needed to another nearby place. She was furious. Secondly, I noticed she never "did it" when there was a man or other visitors about or when we were at a company social function.I finally spoke to the boss and he reluctantly and embarrassedly complied with our wishes that he talk to her. She stopped the obnoxious and noxious behavior. There were lots of other things like using other workers id's on paperwork to shift blame for mistakes and cheating on her time cards among others but the first was by far the most difficult to tolerate by her fellow workers.Belle
Guest Rachan
BelleDidn't anyone ever give her a big ol' "WHOOOO" & wave their hand in front of their face?!My people aren't "horrors" but they are quirky a plenty.I work with a woman I call the nomad of doom because she latches onto a horrible depressing news story & than wanders from desk to desk trying to get someone to get wrapped up in the misery with her.A big news story here last week was someone threw an entire litter of puppies into a dumpster. The Nomad was pleased! My other co-worker destroys words & sayings "That's just six of one and another dozen of the other" "It's right on the tip of my head.." She also repeats the last word in her sentence, but doesn't say it,she mouths it & than bites her bottom lip. "Tracy do you want a donut?" (donut?...lip bite)My husband worked with a woman I named snorky because you could hear her breathing from across the room & occasionally she would make a "snock snock snock" sound to clear her throat. Her husband traveled for his job(I can't imagine why..) & on the weekends he had been home she would come & announce to the office if she got "Lucky" or not. If she saw a birthday cake in the kitchen for an occasion she would cut herself a slice & than put it back with a piece missing. She had horrible mood swings.(She was like a menopausal Darth Vader)My husband now works with a man who is a compulsive eater. He spends most of his time wandering from department to department seeing if there is an event that he can take food from.He never chips in for the food or gift...most times doesn't know a soul there, but he loads up & brings it back to his desk. The problem is that he heats it in an old old microwave that is on it's last leg. You can set it at 30 minutes & than watch the dial move rapidly & "ding" in about 30 seconds. It takes about 10 times thru to heat a slice of pizza.(whrrrrrr DING whrrrrrr DING....etc)my husband almost wants Snorky back.
Guest Fresh
I had a front-desk person who, after three years in my employ, could not remember our office phone number. When people would call, I could hear her reciting back the incorrect numbers. After a few weeks, I wrote the number on a file card and taped it in front of her workstation. She got annoyed. I ultimately told her that I was keeping a log of every date, time, and person she gave out the wrong phone or fax number, and that if she didn't rectify the situation, she would need to find a new job. She is no longer in my employ.
missm
Gee, I feel sorry for all of you! I've only ever worked with interesting people!! None of them were horrors, though some tried to be.I did have a co-worker who was a regular Miss Know It All, Is It All and Has It All. Nobody liked her or her "I'm better than you" attitude. I was able to see that she was all about masking her basic insecurity and befriended her. She would stop the act when we went to lunch or were together and others wondered how I could stand her. I would explain that she was really a nice person and that they should give her a chance. She never really caught on to how to treat people though I know she tried. Since I left that company, I sincerely hope she's learned to stop all of her bragging (mostly lies easily proven to be such) and backstabbing. GMan
I have a co-worker whose breath will singe your eyebrows. I have NEVER smelled anything like it! You can smell it half-way across the room. It really is offensive. Jeez...you can hear his teeth screaming.
rockynrobyn1977
I was going through an infertility problem so I took on an extra job to keep busy. I went to work at a hotel. I worked a night shift. I got hired to help out and pick up the slack. Three of the four girls were pregnant! So they couldn't do some of the tasks. I was getting mad because they threw all their work at me. I got called in by a supervisor saying I wasn't doing my job. I was pissed. I told him they sat around all night doing nothing. He was jerk. Guess what, I got pregnant about a month later. I walked in and spoke my mind and told him to shove the job up his a$$! And a few other nasty things. I ran into him at an event at the hotel. I was with my husband and I pointed at him and said there's the a$$hole boss, very loudly in front some staff. I was showing at the time. I felt better after
Raspberrybelle
RachanHints did not work on her. She didn't care and said so. She also suffered from a bad skin disease on her elbows, scalp and eyelashes. I sincerely felt sorry for her but then she started to eat the flakes that she picked off of herself right in front of me and the other employees.Enough already! There's more but I think I've burned enough on this person.People are full of odd behaviors. I sometimes wonder what people say about my annoying behavior.Belle
Guest Rachan
BelleI think as long as you're not eating pieces of your elbows or scalp (Gag!) you're in the free & clear with your own public habits. That is HORRIBLE.I would say a gassy scab eater trumps a mouth breather in the poker game of life...ewwww...you win (not really!)My people were & are just comic relief! Raspberrybelle
I think it's time to let my resentment toward my ex-work mate go. I've been mad at her for a long time and she doesn't even work at the company any more. How silly of me. I can say those of us left at the job can all breath a sigh of relief (haha).I got a kick out of the responses you all contributed.Belle

marathon mama
I once worked in a cubicle in an office near a loud and messy co-worker who used to eat smelly tuna sandwiches and stella doro cookies and drink fizzy soda at his desk very noisily (chomp chomp, gulp, slurp, etc.) and then often hiccup and belch. If it was subdued I might have been able to ignore it, but it was a very quiet office! {although it doesn't top the stories that you guys posted.} I tried to avoid interacting with him since the mess was unsightly, his clothes and desk were covered with crumbs. The office cleaning staff would try to vaccuum it daily, but I don't thing they would be able to get at the crumbs that were building up in his desk drawers. And not just crumbs, he used to put unfinished food in the drawers, unwrapped. I once spoke to the office maintenance department and they asked me if I wanted the exterminator to come (but I said I hadn't seen any vermin yet and didn't like poisonous chemicals, even though they routinely had exterminators visit, so I guess everyone was already exposed to the toxins).BTW, I actually felt very sorry for this co-worker who had an ulcer and used to take pepcid and all sorts of medicines.
