Great pic Kirk. What you're doing there is one of the things life is all about, IMHO.

I've only flown into LA, never hung out in California, but I've seen a lot of video and pics. Sometimes I like watching the golf tournaments on TV just to see the shots of the Pacific and California's coast line. So beautiful is the coast of California.

I like to travel. One trip I want to take (along with 100 others) is to fly into Southern Cal (San Diego)...drive up the coast to San Franciso (or beyond), take in the Pacific coast, make stops in LA & another town or two.... jut out into the interior to see some of the cool natural stuff California has to offer there.... etc.

Anyway, I'll do that one day, I think.

But for now I got hard responsibilities. It's Valentines Day you know.

I mentioned in Shout - Santa has Christmas. I (James) have Valentine's Day.

PaulMaul, one of those boxes says '15th series'...you got all of them?

Just about! And what I'm proudest of is that they're all in nice condition like these. It's taken a lot of wheeling and dealing and time. I still need a 4th series box, that's the only one I haven't found in nice enough shape yet.

The crazy part is, some of these display boxes are likely 10 times rarer than Action Comics #1, but the demand is so much lower that the prices are tolerable, if not cheap....

Sometimes I feel bad that I put so much effort into collecting what amounts to garbage....but I get a real kick out of it, so I guess that's all that matters!

When I lived in PA, I had a large model railroad of the Cambria and Indiana in my basement. Here's a link to some pictures:

http://www.trainweb.org/cambriaindiana/model_ci_rr.htm

It was donated to a model railroaders' club in Altoona.

The photos on the web page are 10 or more years old, and the last photo has my stepson in it - he will turn 21 later this year.

Anyone who loves trains and model railroads is a champ in my book. All aboard!

I don't mind at all, Kirk, thanks. Hard to believe the boy is almost 21 now and has a child of his own who just had his 1st birthday (it's still a little weird accepting the fact that I'm a Grandpa).

That model RR covered about 80 square feet. I've been thinking about building a new one (I gave away the layout when the move was imminent, but I kept most of my locomotives and rolling stock), but when I do, it's going to be no larger than 4'x8'!

The cars were all built from kits (no toy store stuff); I painted and decalled the engines and many of the cars myself.

I adore model train sets.

My 4 brothers built a huge village in our basement in Warminster PA when I was tiny. They used to like running the trains into each other. P*ssed my Daddy off. lol

"Goll-damnit! You boys knock that the hell off before you break something! And don't think you'll get any more!"

Gosh...I loved my Daddy...we were always stressing him out!
