missm
Oh, no!! Seriously, oh no!! I loved his program and recall waiting up late to see my favorite artists perform!! R.I.P. Don Kirschner
blackhawkpat
Very sad news. The Monkees were never the same after he stopped running their direction. He was huge in guiding The Archies. Rest In Peace, Don! Here is probably my favorite musical moment he provided us:
Guest Fresh
In 1960, Don Kirshner let Sandra Dee(born in Bayonne, GMan!) and Bobby Darin use his apartment in Tudor Court in Elizabeth,NJ to get married. Later on in the 60's he moved to Livingston, NJ. One weekend, he had a barbeque at his home near Pleasant Valley Way. Invited were Neil Sedaka, Carole King, and Neil Diamond, among other Brill Bldg. people. It is said that Neil Diamond was inspired to write Pleasant Valley Sunday as a result of that weekend barbeque. Don's uncle Fred was an internationally known musical instrument repairman. He worked on my saxophones many times until his death in 1989 from diabetes and heart disease.

Guest Fresh
A funny piece of trivia....if you've ever watched "I Dream of Jeannie" from the mid-1960's, during the end credits, the person named as Musical Consultant was Don Kirshner. GMan
That's sad. I think he did a great job with The Monkees and he even had our boys on his show! I dug his show. Lots of great acts were on it. RIP Don.

Al K
Does anyone know if there is a video of the Berries performance from Don Kirshner's Rock Concert on YouTube? I can't find it there...
Paulie Mississippi
Not the whole episode, but you can find a couple of cuts... one of Overnight Sensation is rough, starts out like a home-made vid, but morphs into Kirshner's show about ten seconds in...
