missm
It was fantastic (IMHO) to watch and listen to them show how it's done!! Among the guests were my 17 and 15 year old niece and nephew. They were impressed!! One of them got cranked up about how old the guys in the band were. Yes, I (and a couple of other guests) had to shut that down by letting them know they were seeing and hearing REAL MUSICIANS PLAYING REAL INSTRUMENTS. Despite the concerns about Roger's voice, he delivered!! What say ye?
TOMMY TUNES
Townsend carried the day. Roger's done, both physically and vocally. He was embarrassing. Pete still has it , musically, appearance wise and Pete even had to sing some of Roger's parts for him. Pete should probably tour with another Lead Vocalist in the future. Shelley
I didn't care for it, Hubby liked it, he's a "Who" fan, I'm not We stayed home and watched the game...On Saturday we saw the new Mel Gibson movie...It was GREAT
Guest Fresh
General consensus in my house was "Excellent". The age range was from 15 to 63. If you saw the show in full hi-def and 5.1 dolby digital surround, it was awesome. They did a great job balancing the sound, coordinating the lasers and lights, and keeping the camera on interesting visuals. I must truly admit to being aware of the shortcomings of Daltry and Townshend, but who (no pun intended)among us can do anything as well as we did 30 or so years ago. I was proud of those guys. Glad to see Pete with a Stratocaster and full bank of Fender amps.I felt he cut some corners on his fills and solos. No big deal.
Kirk
I was digging it as well. I picked 3 out of the 5 songs they played from the "Who, but what?" thread- that's better than Tony's betting average Way to go, Who!
danmichel
I liked The Who's Super Bowl show...It was good to see them on the big stage.
ira
I just viewed this performance again on youtube.I got chills.Daltrey's a grandpa.Townsend's been thru hell and back!I thought that all things considered they were GREAT!I LOVE Eric...But even he..at the Raspberries' Reunion Shows sometimes conceded a note or two to age....That does not mean that he's really lost anything off his fastball! All things considered...I thought The Who were TREMENDOUS!...and personally I'm glad they didn't "die before yhey got old"! pretender
I loved seeing them there,Pete was great, but I felt a little sad for Roger-he used to be the best.
angelina
I loved seeing them there,Pete was great, but I felt a little sad for Roger-he used to be the best. I totally agree about "The Who's Left" performance. All in all it was pretty darn good TV. I thought Pete & Roger looked great, Pete played and sang very well, Roger sang a bit less than that. I knew Ringo's son tours with The Who...but there was a guitarist in the background who looked like a younger Pete Townsend. Does Pete have a son that plays with them? bahoodore
Hmmmmm...i just watched it on youtube....and i have to say that Roger was pretty good!!! I always thought he was a crappy live singer (in terms of pitch), but he was quite good here...especially at his age....and Townsend is one of my favorite guitar players of all time...(second to Wally), so he can do no wrong...bahoo
Guest Fresh
As a physician, I was amazed that he can still whip his right shoulder around like he did. I'm sure he had some pre-emptive pain meds, and lots of post-performance meds!
chris hess
i thought roger did a good job!! pete, well he should stay away from the mic..my opinion..lol,chris
Early Wynn
They sounded better than I expected. I really thought they'd open with My Generation. And Ringo's boy got a lot of time in front of the camera. He's an incredible drummer.
chris hess
i was hoping for some older material..they did yhe usual songs i expected..lol,chris
GMan
They sounded better than I expected. I really thought they'd open with My Generation. And Ringo's boy got a lot of time in front of the camera. He's an incredible drummer. It is well documented that Zak's favorite drummer was "Uncle Keith". The kid is great! pretender
I knew Ringo's son tours with The Who...but there was a guitarist in the background who looked like a younger Pete Townsend. Does Pete have a son that plays with them? Pete's brother Simon plays in the band(and also played on Roger's solo tour last year)
Tony Cartmill
They were good. But that Wally and Eric tandem impressed me MORE when I saw them live. I bet Eric is a bit more of a perfectionists with rehearsal time than these Who Legends...
Guest Fresh
Tony, our Eric is a perfectionist in EVERYTHING!
