blackhawkpat
Very sad news. Always loved to hear him roar on the couch when Johnny would deliver his zingers. I actually just bought his biography two weeks ago, but haven't started reading it. Rest in peace, Ed, and thanks for all the many years of great comedy. Kirk
Always sad to see another Hollywood old-timer go. Can't really say I knew him, but I did meet him at a house in Beverly Hills that he was either remodeling or knocking down about 30 years ago. He was at the top of his game back then. missm
First Johnny and now Ed! Two iconic figures gone. What will happen to Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes? Since Ed was their best pitchman, they should name something in his honor!
Billy K.
I was thinking the same thing, Miss M.!
Raspbernie
Jay? Dave? Conan? Nah, Johnny was the best! And Ed was along for the ride! R.I.P., Ed! Hi-yo!
Guest Fresh
He was the perfect straight-man for all of Carson's routines.I would wait for each new "Karnak" routine, where Johnny had to answer the questions written on cards in sealed envelopes.Always side-splitting. Tony Cartmill
Ed had a big hand, or a skeptic might say, was along for the ride for 2 huge American Culture Events: "The Tonight Show" and "Star Search"! How many stars of today got their national debut on "Star Search"? And "American Idol" is a spin-off of "Star Search".It always seemed that Ed didn't really do alot of prep for his shows...Maybe, like Dean Martin, that was by design.Either way, well done, Ed. Danny S.
Alcohol-induced design...Ed was a BIG drinker, like Dean Martin. His uncontrollable background laughter on the Tonight Show, always made me laugh.
Paulie Mississippi
Before someone goes nuts, the next line is in Ed's honor..."How dead is he?" R. I. P. to the ultimate second banana.
