Great picture. Can't believe it's been up an hour and I'm the first to reply!

WOO-HOO!!! Not bad for a guy who can't make it every day any longer. ;)

Sign of the times? Isn't that a cigarette Eric's holding in his left hand? Funny, you just don't see people smoking on talk shows any more... probably since they are all done in public places... and of course indoors... :D

I remember this show. I'm almost positive Eric did ABM first..then Merv chatted with concern for Eric about being bogged down by a HUGE career-defining hit right out of the box. Then I think Eric then played Boats Ahgainst The Current. Clive mentioned that EC was more like a Paul McCartney than a Barry Manilow.

This was a great show. Hopefully some board members can help me with my sketchy memory.

Well done Paulie!!!!

I remember this show too -John - I do not doubt your recollection in the slightest - I really want to say that Eric did "Change of Heart" and that his first wife, Marcy, was in the audience and that Merv made a comment about the fabulous hair they both had and what heads of hair their children would have. maybe it was a later show?

ERIC!!! C'mon, Mr. C - I need to have our favorite fact checker chime in here!!!!!!!!

Annie.....THAT'S right. I remember the hair comment and a quick camera shot of EC's first wife.

What a GREAT format for a performer to present his work and personality. Eric must've had at least fourteen minutes of music time and at least a full segment of chat time. (Cigarettes and all ha ha).

Merv's show was fantastic!

Thanks for the picture Bernie! Wow, that brings back the memories...I was so excited Eric was going to be on Merv so that I could hear what his voice sounded like. I even got out my little tape recorder and recorded that segment! Wish I still had that tape.........

OMG, I used to do that!! I'd have to *shush* everyone in the room so I could get a clean tape without any talking. Adjusting the volume so the tape would come out sounding good was a gamble, but wow, those days were fun. I even have some old reel to reel tapes before I got my first casette player!

Those were a pain to thread.....

Old? Who "moi?" lol

John, you made my millenium...thank God i remember something accurately! I loved those shows too....I distinctly remember running upstairs to watch Merv in my parents room even though my mother was watching it downstairs! They would have been so pissed off that I was wasting electricity upstairs by watching the same show too! But i had to have complete silence to absorb every sound and to just STARE at Eric.
