Tim From Wisconsin
I believe that Mitch said that he will be attending the Raspberries memorabilia donation event at the Hard Rock Cafe on Saturday, is anyone else planning on attending? I decided to drive over to Cleveland from Milwaukee for the weekend! I ended up getting a great rate on a Hotel room on priceline, and gas is still decently priced, so what the heck! I'll get to Cleveland sometime in the early afternoon on Friday, and my plan is to go to the House of Blues on Friday night. On Saturday I will be at the Hard Rock for sure. I also bought myself one of the $5.00 tickets to get into the Hall of Fame on Saturday night to see the live simulcast of the inductions and performances. The Hall is letting people in free all day Saturday, so I might go there during the day for a while to look around. Cleveland will be rocking this weekend! So, who else will be at the Hard Rock Cafe Saturday? Tim

Wendy-Ann
Tim, I keep going back and forth, but I would have to make a decision today. I did find a few good flights, but still expensive. (I have a great hotel - Hotel Sidoti ) I think if more people were going, I'd be more likely to go. This is soooo last minute, flights from the OC, UGH...well, it doesn't look good. I'm kinda reeeeeaaaaally bummed out! Tim...if I can get a good flight, and I talk to Danny, I will do my best make it. But I would ask you to escort me. (ok, tag along with you at the Hard Rock event) It was hard enough the time I went to Cleveland alone. But I did know I was meeting up with people at the concert. It will just be fun to support them in some way, even if it's just seeing them for a little while at the Hard Rock. I'm able to do this thrifty enough, so I will certainly have other funds in case something REALLY fun like a show happens somewhere down the line. I'm about 1/4 of a mile from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, through priceline I got 1 night for $40 and the other 2 for $48, I have free high speed internet in my Hotel room...All is good! I'm going to head to The House of Blues for something to eat and a drink or 4 soon. Can't wait to see the band on Saturday! Tim

John Shaft
Tim, if you made it out to HOB did you see the Big Head Todd & The Monsters show we had there tonight? Just curious as I was working security at the door tonight (but without by beloved purple hat).

I ran into a group of people who had an extra ticket in their box they offered me, but I was calling it an early night so I said no. I definately would have stopped to say hello if I knew you would be at the door. I hope to see you at The Hard Rock Cafe on Saturday! seattlesteve
Regarding Hall of Fame Inductees, 'Berries qualify under the 25 year tenure rule and certainly the below.."Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist's contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll."Tonight ought to erase all doubt. If Bruce is there, it's no time to be humble, someone needs to ask him to jump on stage and do a shout out and tell the story when he was writing the Born to Run album, he spent a summer driving around constantly listening to The Raspberries Greatest Hits, and was influenced..! marvin
Bruce won't be there tonight. He's got a gig in AZ. Max and Gary are arriving tomorrow to induct DJ Fontana and Bill Black, so there's the possibility that Bruce could be there tomorrow, but then they've got a gig on Sunday in TX.Steve I believe it was during the period of recording "The River" (1978-1980) that Bruce was listening to the 'berries "Greatest Hits" album. seattlesteve
Darn, OK where is Bon Jovi tonight? He was dancing in the aisle at the House of Blues.
seattlesteve
Was it the River? You may be right? I was thinking the into to Born to Run was somewhat inspired by the intro to IWTBWY
marvin
Well Bruce was certainly familiar with the "IWBWY", but the 'berries "Greatest Hits" was only released in late 1970's.
LC
Actually, I think the cassette Springsteen listened to back during the creation of The River was Raspberries Best, with those "four horny singles" leading off Side A (or Side 1 for the LP). And Raspberries Best came out in 1976. As I recall, Capitol rush-released the LP -- complete with that loud "FEATURING ERIC CARMEN" headline -- to capitalize on the chart success of "All By Myself." (That was the album that sucked me in, really. Those first four songs were killer, and "I Can Remember" through headphones was an experience.) LC
And I'm pretty sure you're right that it was The River that was influenced by Raspberries Best. There's a post here somewhere where Eric talks about Born to Run influencing him, while Raspberries was influencing Bruce.
marvin
Bruce and Steve have mentioned that they were so influenced by 'berries during the recording of "The River", two of Bruce's songs that were recorded even had the same titles as 'berries songs: "I'm A Rocker" and "I Wanna Be With You." The latter ended being left off "The River" but was included on his "Tracks" collection 20 years later.
