Yeah! Someone has finally confirmed it!

According to CottageViews.com:

In the News: The Bangles Return - 80s Power-Pop priestesses The Bangles are reportedly in the studio working on a new album for 2009.

Additionally, guitarist/vocalist Susannah Hoffs and Matthew Sweet have teamed up for a second helping of Under The Covers. While the disc is not slated for release until late July, 16 tracks for Under the Covers, Vol. 2 have already been recorded. Guests include Dhani Harrison, the son of the late great Beatle George, on a version of his father's "Beware of Darkness," Steve Howe on Yes' "I've Seen All Good People," and Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham on "Second Hand News." Other tracks recorded by the duo are Todd Rundgren's "Hello, It's Me," Carly Simon's "You're So Vain," and the Raspberries "Go All the Way."

It's a pretty good - and faithful to the original - version, although it sounds to me like there's a bad edit towards the beginning of the tune...

mighty mouse, i mean popdude - where did u hear this? it isnt on their myspace page.. do tell

looks like GATW will be track #2 on the cd - even cooler!

wonder if EC (not just his agent or ascap) has been in touch w/ this duo - wonder if they know about the recent spate of 'berries reunion shows for that matter..

I will like ANY version of GATW, but this one sounds like it was produced and arranged by a high school music teacher. "ok suzie you sing this part. matthew you sing here, here and here. And you kids in the band...no foolin' around!"

I agree... lousy production. To me, it sounds like they did ten takes, grabbed some of the vocals from one take, some from another, the guitar from another, etc. It just sound like it was digitally mashed together by someone who was not very good at editing. It doesn't suck. After listening to it a few times, it kind of grows on me, as opposed to The Raspberries version, which just knocks you on your butt from the get-go.

It's GATW...so I was obviously excited to hear it. That being said....better luck next time. I liked the Sweet/Hoffs remakes from the last CD...but GATW seems too ambitious for them.

I'd actually prefer the Jonas boys do GATW.

Maybe Sweet/Hoffs should have tackled "Let's Pretend".(not an easy song...but vocally would be interesting)

Ok, and maybe they shouldn't.

So ummmm...shhhhh, before they hear you and I'll have to put myself out of my misery if they do it.

Okey-dokey, then...

Wendy...I LOVE hearing remakes of classics. I've given the Rollers' version of Let's Pretend a few spins on youtube. ;)

Yeah.......but Jimmy Ienner produced it. See what I mean?

And I still like that version 'til this day. It reminds me of being 14 again. However, there is nothing like the original version of that song.

So....shhh...shhh...if we keep "vewy, vewy" quiet, they won't hear you. Shhhhhhhh--- ;)

upon listening, i have to agree w/ the naysayers, this version is milktoast. i'm a big fan of these two also, esp matthew sweet, but this just goes to show what an original composition, & an especially original performance, by EC & the Raspberries this song was - it will never be touched by any cover or dupe.. not even close, by light years..
