Bring on the "GO!" show

Recommended Posts

Raspbernie: How about in your next Eric update, bring on the complete episode of the "GO!" show from 1973. I have seen that show before but it was around 1975 when they showed an episode of how the "Pink Panther" cartoons (when NBC showed them on Saturday mornings) & the DePate/Freleng studios are made which was done & the late Wolfman Jack did the talking. this is very cool, this was one of the hardest video clips for me to track down of them (before the web, thru Goldmine magazine), & i remember seeing it in my pj's as a kid in between Sat AM cartoons & being really excited about it, as i was already a fan & had already turned on my buddy down the street to them. thx always for posting, Bernie

The rest of the "Go" show is a great, also! Not only do they play several of the Raspberries hits (with physchedelic (sp?) video), there are many segments with isolation on different parts of the production process- Wally on guitar, Jim on drums, Eric on vocals, Dave, Wally and Jim on backing vocals- with Jimmy Ienner and Shelly Yakus cutting in and out the 'rough' tracks. Also, a 'garage band' version of "Tonight" is played for Jimmy, along with other tidbits during the show. Don Imus does a good job narrating and the editing of the show is very good.

i think the clip showing jimmy in the studio is kinda funny, in that he appears as if he is trying to sound important & like he's in charge & knows his stuff for the camera. he's roaming around saying superfluous stuff & may not necessarily have been a studio whiz (or maybe he was?) & it may have been purely for film, but he obviously recognized a great band in the 'berries..

Thanks Bernie!...That was from the show i remember...It kept me outta the sun and offa the beach all those years ago...I was just a kid and i wanted to know all i could know about my favorite bands...And there really wasn't much of a chance to see them on TV in those days...So when something good came on...I was glued to the set.

Chris,

The comments that were removed were just you making comments about how you accidentally posted on the wrong thread or (like the one) about nothing to do with the subject being discussed. Please don't complain about obvious housecleaning that is necessary to keep these Message Boards readable instead of incoherent. It's a difficult job. Thanks.
