I actually drew a portrait of Ghoulardi and sent it in to him and he showed it on his show! His show was a HUGE hit!

Here's some trivia for you. Ghoulardi's son is the (in)famous director Paul Thomas (Anderson), director of "Boogie Nights" and "Magnolia". He directs the legit stuff as Paul Thomas Anderson, and porn as Paul Thomas. ec

That part about getting your drawing on T.V. with Ghoulardi made me envious. In Louisville, we had Presto the Magic Clown. When I was in 2nd grade, I got the nerve up to draw Presto and send in the portrait, but my mom, a rather fastidious school teacher, was embarrassed over my lack of drawing skills, and nixed that ambition before it ever saw paper. Mom's a drag ;) .

We also had a kind-of lame horror movie host named "The Fearmonger." His costume was basically a flashlight under his chin. Charles Kissinger, who played The Fearmonger, was also in a lot of Drive-In movies by the Ed Wood of Louisville-William Girdler. Don Krider probably knows more about The Fearmonger than do I.

My dad lived in Cincinnati, where they had a watered-down Ghoulardi ripoff billed as "The Cool Ghoul." I figured out later by watching interviews and clips of Ernie Anderson that The Cool Ghoul's schtick was basically a watered-down and direct appropriation of Anderson's.

The last thing I remember Ghoulardi voicing over before he died was-ready, Ohio people-a Perkins Pancake Restaurant commercial, of all things. Of course, he's most famous for his legendary voice-over sleazer-"The Loooooove Boat."

I'm a pretty big P.T. Anderson fan. I think that P.T.'s "Boogie Nights" characters Dirk Diggler and Reed Rothchild practicing Ka-ra-tay and singing "Feel the Heat" are the funniest vignettes I've ever seen!! Oh-and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the "Mattress Man" in "Punch Drunk Love" was funny to the point of pain.

I think every town had their own 'Ghoulardi' on a local station for the Saturday night 'b' horror flicks. We had Seymour. He would insert himself into the movie if it was really bad. His running commentary was hilarious. He'd introduce a voodoo film, and then ask the audience to grab a hat pin and "stick with it". Stuff like that. Did anybody else have Elvira, or was she just SoCal, also? Kirk.

My Favorite Ghoulardi memory was when he started putting himself in the movies. It was "The Attack of the 50 ft Woman" he shimmied up her thigh, turned to the camera and winked....next thing he was on her breast, laughing.I dont know how they got away with it back then, but it was probably the funniest thing i'd seen on "Live" TV,!

Danny...I remember Ghoulardi inserting himself into Godzila...running with all the screaming Japanese people screaming "Hey over dey! I was about 7...Ithought it was the funniest thing ever! Still do.Ghoulardi is considered the king of horror hosts for good reason...we were lucky to have had him growing up. Turn blue.

i just wish they had copied those "cut-ins", All the old footage Ive seen, on the net, and the TV specials were all the same.....the audio cut-ins were good too, however the video's ,,,i still laugh thinking about them...Remember 'The Cyclops", when he was on his shoulder with a spear, poking him in the eye?

I have ALL those cheezy movies on DVD, a pretty good collection, and a great source to find them
