marvin
After a very long time, I re-listened to this incredible song today. In my opinion it seems as if Wally is evoking the spirit of John Lennon with his vocal style. What do you think?Marvin
MAM
I have to agree with you on that Marvin. Very Lennon like.
bahoodore
Boy oh boy!!!...Marv, I have been listening to that song over and over this past week...it is by far THE finest tune Wally has ever written...the only let down is that it is too short and the 12 string solo, though cool because of the Rick sound, follows the melody....it could have been a little more creative...maybe they ran out of studio time...That part , "When is your home not your home...."is so touching...when I first heard it, it actually brought tears to my eyes...absolutely beautiful.bah
marvin
Talk about a coincidence Andy - but it's certainly not the first time you and I have been tuned into the same music! "WIYD" is a really great song and I don't know why I didn't pay attenting to it the first time around. I'll agree that it's the best Wally tune I've heard, BUT according to Kay, there's a closet full of classic Wally tunes. One can only hope that they'll open the door and let some of them out.Marvin
marvin
Yes the song is WAY TOO SHORT. Take the tune, Dave's "Someone Like You", re-do them both, and include them on a disc of new 'berries material.Marvin

popdude
You are not alone! "Pop Teasers" was one of the highlights of REFRESHED...
marvin
"Pop Teasers" has some really biting lyrics and a solid melody. It's a great tune as well.Marvin
Tony Cartmill
I have not heard any of these tunes, so I am about as qualified to give an opinion on them as...Carmen Smalley.I'd love to hear a really good song written by Wally. You say there is one or two?
Tony Cartmill
Marvin, What do you think of Kyle Vincent's new self indulgent song, "Soul"? It might work well as a Lennon inspired poem, but it bores the hell out of me as a song..."Merry-Go-Round" is very moving, and my favorite on the new CD. popdude
I'm not Marvin, but I think "Soul" is a nice little song...what makes you say it's self-indulgent?
marvin
Tony since you're not a fan of non-Eric material within the 'berries, you need to listen to Wally and Dave's tunes on the "Refreshed" disc. Kyle's new disc is good, but in my opinion he's moving farther away from the great pop of "Arianne" and "I Used to Love the Girl" that was on his first disc and closer to MOR. Still good, but not quite the ear candy of earlier stuff.Marvin
marvin
Give "WIYD", "Let's Just Say Goodbye", "Pop Teasers", and "Someone Like You" a true 'berries makeover, and you've got a head start to what would be an incredible new album. In the words of Dusty Springfield, "wishing and hoping.."Marvin
Tony Cartmill
John B, "Soul"'s melody line is just so repetitive and boring, it is almost like listening to white-boy RAP!It's a decent little poem though...
