Paulie Mississippi
might be the guy to ride this time... have a third party make enough noise to shake up the big two... 'cause the Dems and Reps are so used to being the only options that they don't care about the people any more... or at least not all the people... they always care about their major contributors... and special interest groups... but "Joe Average" needs to reclaim his voice in politics and at the polls... Go Ralph!!
darlene
I'm ready to vote for the neighbor down the block... Glad Nader is running. Some crazy election so far, huh? --D
Captain Harlock
The problem with Ralph Nader is he's not Ross Perot. What do I mean by that? Nader still doesn't appeal to "mainstream America". Perot was someone that the voters could get behind because he was essentially a conservative in independents clothing. But Nader is still viewed as that "60's liberal". He really appeals to so few people that to me this run says one thing; that this isn't about making a difference, serving the public, or changing America. This is about Ralph Nader. I do think America needs another party. Heck, I want FIVE candidates for president. Unfortunately I don't think Nader is the guy to do it. James
:::::: James, delighted with today's events and in full spin mode :::::::: Attention All Democrats: It's very important to vote your conscious. Vote for the best candidate, regardless of what the press says the candidate's chances of winning are. It must start somewhere, make it start with YOU. You owe it to yourself and your brethren..And, Ralph Nader is that man!! Ralph Nader can change the world!! Ralph Nader will make a great president!!!Sincerely,Progressive James

raspberrywolf
Yes I know I can't officially vote but if I could mine would go to Eric for Prez, the Raspberries as his Congress and Bernie for Vice Prez :-) Seems like a perfectly fair intellectually balanced group of representatives wouldn't you say?? Plus just think of the new inventive ways they might play the national anthem!!

raspberrywolf
ummm I only have one response to that and it's a classic song from BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6lQqfbuwfw Margaux this is SOOOOOOO YOU!! LOLWhat's cool is this song equally applies to some of your candidates! ;-)
JohnO
Hmmmmm.....about two months ago, Ralphie stated that he'd stay out of the race this time, unless it looked like Hillary C. was going to be nominated......hmmmmmmm

You sound serious about Nader, unless you're just baiting the Democrats among us. The guy is truly on an ego trip. Ironically, he's irrelevant in the grand scheme, yet he's got just enough of a following to do some damage (as my favorite politician found out in 2000). That said, I don't mind if you vote Nader, because... it's one less Republican vote!
James
Wuz up Doug, great to see you posting again..And Maureen Dowd is still smokin (she is), IMHO of course.
James
And LC, I'd never bait a Democrat (I've done well, I've got LC thinking about wasting his vote), you know better than that..
LC
Oh, I'm already gonna waste my vote: I'm gonna write in Al Gore!
Doug
And I already voted absentee - and did it while off work for President's Day! It was a cool feeling. Call me a sucker, but I still get excited about voting, especially when we've got candidates I can really support, like the Dems do this year. I would've loved to have seen Al run again, LC. But I'm not at all unhappy with my choices.
LC
Doug, I'm with you... Hillary and Barrack have emerged as worthy candidates, IMHO, and I'll support either in the Big Campaign. It's taken me a while to get over Al's unwillingness to go through the grind of a presidential campaign. I'm disappointed, but... I totally understand it -- who would want to go through the craziness, exposing themselves to ridiculous levels of scrutiny? Al probably added 15 years to his life by staying out of the fray and doing what he loves to do!--LC
Paulie Mississippi
Two points: First, the American people have been sold on the "don't waste your vote" bs for far too long... any vote that you make with a solid reasoning behind it is not wasted... Second: The only wasted vote is the vote you don't cast... If you cave to the idea that you "must" choose between just the two main candidates... so therefore I say... vote for Nader... vote for whoever is on the ballott or that you care to write in... but do not let the "bullies" that want to ram McCain or Clinton/Obama down our throats force you to choose between horse dung and cow dung... there's plenty of other flavors to choose from... Personally from what I've seen and heard so far, if Ron Paul were to break with the party and go Indy, I'd be in his camp... otherwise I'll cast my allegience to Nader this time around... not that I think either of them has a chance, but to vote for a man (or woman) that I don't believe in just because I am "supposed to"... well, I won't drink that Kool-aid any longer... Laura
The news said that last election Nader only got 500,000 votes nationally. If you can't even get a million, you're just taking up space. Nader becomes less relevent each time he runs.

I've thought those same thoughts many times. I'm pretty sure some in my family voted for Nader in 2000. The question I had for them (and you if you want to take a stab at it) was - Aren't you still voting for somebody you don't believe in? It seems like you're not really a supporter of Ron's or Ralph's - you just don't like being told that you have to vote for one of the "major" candidates. Hey, I don't blame you, but my fear is that while Nader supporters were arguing with Gore supporters, Bush went ahead and won the presidency (with help from his 5 buddies on the SCOTUS). My grandma called it "cutting off your nose to spite your face". I can't have McCain, so I'll vote Hillary or Barak, not because they were my 1st choice, but because they're the best choice remaining at this point. When it's pragmatism vs. principle, how do you pick?
