She's got routines for the exercise ball!!! I need to look into THAT! I've found that the exercise ball is one way I've been able to do small amounts of exercise without getting too weak or exhausted but I haven't been able to find much material on routines. (Elastic bands aren't too bad either.) Thank you!

Hey, has anyone tried working on a Bosu ball yet? What do you think of it? Is that too strenuous or relatively gentle to start?

Lol, Muzza!

Kathy Lee--Leslie's stability ball DVD is titled, "You CAN Do! ABS--a simplified approach.

From the back cover: This video has three progressive practice segments, each one designed to take you a step closer to greater results: Using Your Stability Ball, The Core Workout and The Upper-Body Workout.

Looks like it's a total of 1 hour and 33 minutes. I haven't done this one in a long time. I deflated my ball when I got married and moved and don't know what I did with the pump. Lol! I also have a Denise Austin ball routine that I used to do that wasn't too bad. I just really didn't have a lot of room back then and kept falling off the ball! Lol!

Never heard of a Bosu ball.

A Bosu ball is a firm, half-ball on a platform that you stand on to do various exercises and the required balance works the core. You can flip it over and do exercises on the platform part, too. Do a search on it and I'm sure you'll recognize it as soon as you see it (they're in a lot of gyms and fitness centers.)

Do you know if either Leslie Sansone's video or Denise Austen's video still available?

Leslie\'s Site

Go to her "store". Should be listed in there somewhere. She has different pages for different levels of workouts.

Also, you can get her stuff on Ebay. You could probably get Denise's too. Check out Barnes and Noble too--they had numerous DVD's of Leslie's)

(actually, I think I saw Denise's at Sheele's

Sporting Goods the other day.)

Also, Target has 2 compilation's of Leslie's Workouts back in there exercise equipment area. Doesn't have the ball routine, but both have some good stuff. One of them has 5 different workouts (including the great kickboxing one!) and the other has 3 workouts (one of them is a 4 miler!)

Heck, I'm almost as big a Leslie fan as I am an Eric one! Lol!

I'm going to try a WATP DVD. I'm just having a hard time picking one. I like shopping on Amazon because they have tons of reviews that may be a little more honest than the LS website. The problem being they all get good reviews. Julie,

I don't see the express 2 in 1, could you recommend another? One with multiple length workouts?

I'm so anxious to get these DVD's that I couldn't wait for more recommendations. I just ordered Walk Away the Pounds for Abs - 3 Miles and Walk Away the Pounds Super Challenge - 4 Miles. We had a few nice days here about a week ago and now we are back to winterlike weather with snow flurries....Please Mr. Postman !!! Hurry!!!

Ok, I found a DVD I'm going to try (they didn't have Austin or Sansone.) It's called Zone Pilates Mat & Ball Workout. It's a 3-in-1 DVD.

The first program is called Body Sculpt Ball Workout so it's mostly resistance and should be slow and keep my heart rate from getting too high or me from getting too exhausted while still toning.

The second program is called Fat Burning Ball Workout and uses stricter Pilates and strength training so I'm not going to attemtp this yet.

The third program is called Pilates Mat Workout and is basic Pilates core training so that may take awhile yet, too.

In the meantime, I've continued to keep my water intake high and I HAVE begun adding more veggies this week! I haven't lost any more weight but I've held the loss from last week and in spite of some MAJOR stressors this week I haven't crashed or lost ground! I picked up a new set of elastic bands, a new stability ball, and a new DVD so we're going to try this VERY slowly. Throw a prayer or two my way!!!LOL

I did the WATP 3 mile DVD on Saturday and the 4 mile DVD on Sunday. They are very easy to follow and I agree you make them as easy or hard as you want. Just by adding some free weights (I didn't order the belt thingy) you can really get pumping. They'll definately get some use in my house until the weather gets nice around here and on rainy days after. Will be good for switching off with various other strength and core training.

My calves were quite sore this morning!

Kathy Lee - I'd like a review of the Zone Pilates Mat and Ball workouts. Pilates is my fave. smile

Walking is definitely your forte, girl! You did an OUTSTANDING job!!! What do you do for your strength training and for your cardio? (I miss my water aerobics. crying )

I'll let you know about the Zone workouts as soon as I can. I got hit with a couple of MAJOR stressors with my son and it took me down like dropping an anvil.<sigh> I crashed and will take awhile to recover but I'm hanging in there. The good news is that I've dropped another 2 lbs (total of 7 lbs so far)so my body is still slurping up that iodine. haha Honestly, I've increased my water and veggies a bit but no substantial changes other than that.

Kathy Lee, I use light weights (5-10 lbs) here and there for strength training. I used to be a bit of a gym rat and lifted heavier weights but did some damage to my joints. I take a Pilates class and have an assortment of different DVD's that I use at home. I'm a fair weather walker, but when the weather gets nice I walk during my lunch break every day and then will walk a few evenings during the week. Since quitting smoking ( 15 weeks now, Kiwi !) my metabolism has gone haywire and I've gained about seven pounds so I'll have to step up my exercise. At 130 lbs I'm not really overweight, but I was much more comfortable at 123. So I'm looking for new DVD workouts and I'll have to stay away from those chocolate fish ! smile

Oh, honey, trust me --- Kathy Lee will still be trying to lose weight for the next 60 yrs chocolate fish notwithstanding! haha I've learned to put myself on hold when I'm showing signs of being overwhelmed. THEN the crash passes in a couple of days rather than a couple of weeks or months! In another couple of days this should pass and I'll be trying to get back in the game! :P Keep looking over your shoulder! laugh

DVDs have been alright for me when 1) the weather is dreadful and I don't want to go out, or 2) I'm in a time crunch and couldn't get to the Y for my regular workout. Now that I'm starting at a much slower pace than I use to operate at we'll see if it's a more suitable match. I always loved resistance work more than cardio anyway... at least until I can get back in the water! Indifferent Do you use a heart rate monitor or just follow your instincts? Once my trainer taught me how to read my body's reactions with one I wouldn't do ANYTHING without it!

Kathy Lee, I've never used a heart monitor. Are they very expensive? Yes, DVD's are more of a winter/bad weather choice. Like today when we are supposed to get several inches of snow. :P

I'm on a roll for new DVD's, I've ordered 2 new Denise Austin workouts, should get them tomorrow.

Muzza, I guess I should have said "now and then".

Bad choice of words, but it seems you had fun with them anyway. smile I think those chocolate fish would be a great treat when I reach my goal.

Hold on to them for now !

I'm checking in too! Because we had 8" of snow yesterday, Weight Watchers was cancelled, so won't know for another week how my efforts have paid off. Bummer!

I joined Leslie Sansone's Walk Club and I also ordered her latest "Walk Slim" series of DVD's. Did a 2 mile Ab routine of hers last night with her ab-belt.

Made a great supper last night too that was very delish and good for us! Made parmesan chicken breasts (except I used Asiago cheese) and made zucchini with tomatoes, onions and feta and served it over a bed of long grain and wild rice. Yummy!

Hope everyone continues to work hard at this. We can do it! Remember, nothing tastes as good as thin feels!

Keep up the good fight everyone! You're all in my prayers!

Blessings,

Julie
