guitaroxx
I recently heard a Volkswagon car commercial in which "Mr. Blue Sky" ala Electric Light Orhestra, was redone? Sounds great!!! I know many music purists would hate what I am about to say, but I would love old music re-done by the original artists with modern technology. The limitations on equipment 20 - 30 years ago was great. I would love to here some not all stuff re-done. Jeff Lynn as a produser and writer (ELO), is awesome and the Mr. Blue Sky sounds great. Let me know what ya think?
aggiesjc
I'd like to hear some updated versions of songs by the original artists, too. New versions wouldn't cancel out the old ones - I could enjoy both!
GaryS
I would love to hear the original Go All The Way remixed. As a matter of fact I would do it for free. AND I would do a damn good job. Happily. Was the Mr. Blue Sky on the Vwagon ad Jeff or was it a soundalike? I agree it sounds great. I pump up the volume on the tv when it comes on. Remember when tvs with stereo was such a big deal they would put at the bottom of the screen when a show was broadcast in stereo? Remember when they used to show "in color".... Oh how the years fly by. :p
Raspbernie
I love hearing that ELO gem on the Volkswagen commercial! --Bernie
aggiesjc
Bernie, you spelled Volkswagen correctly! Nice job!
MAM
I too, would love to hear the early berries tunes remixed with modern equipment. All the hits were mixed for AM radio and listening to them on the latest "Greatest Hits" is no different. They are mono mixes. When the non-hit tunes start, the difference is obvious. IMHO the stereo mixes are more enjoyable.mam

guitaroxx
Sorry guys I guess I need my spell checker. Hard to believe I have a Master Of Science degree. However, it is as a computer geek not an english major! I do not know if it is Jeff Lynn or a sound alike. It sure does sound like him though. Kristina
I love that Volkswagen commercial so much that I have been listening to my ELO CDs this past week. Was Jeff Lynne the ELO guy in the Traveling Wilbury's? I loved that musical combo of guys. I think the Wilbury's CD is out of print but I would love to find it. Any ideas? I wish VH1 would play some of those 80s videos again...
seattlesteve
Mr. Blue Sky is the original, not a soundalike.Talking about remixing songs from the seventies and how much better they would sound, makes you realy appreciate some of the songs the Beatles pulled off in the late 60's.I've said it before.. I still think, right or wrong, Jeff Lynne as a producer would get Erics songs on the radio.
MAM
Kristina,I saw "But It's Alright" by the Wilburys on VH1 Classic last week. It was the middle of the night, but it was on.
guitaroxx
Steve I could not agree more about Jeff as a producer. He is awesome and could get Eric's stuff on the radio. Eric is such a writer / singer, with Jeff producing and playing they could do some great stuff. HOW DO WE GET THEM TOGETHER? Hey Eric, if you monitor this stuff tell us what we could do to make this happen. Sorry if I sound too excited but I think Steve is on to something? Guest
Hey Guitar It would definetly be cool to hear the original artists redo some stuff with todays technology.Make a greatest hits of 70's tunes redone in digital format.I think Prince actually did something like that with most of his catalog so he could sell it himself. That's probably where problems would be if some artists wanted to do something like that.(legal Issues)I'd love to hear Ziggy Stardust redone in todays technology not to mention Boats.
