I love bunnies but...

I made sure to add the garlic to the spaghetti sauce of course! LOL

They don't have to eat it. Apparently the smell is enough to keep them away.

If you plant green onions in between carrots and lettuce in the garden, not only does it generally keep small animals away, but most bugs as well. The garlic thing is suppose to work with nibbling deer also. I never had a deer problem, so can't verify that. But I do know that opposum and raccoon don't like the garlic

either.

See how domestic I can be?

Suppose that would work on a groundhog?? We had a groundhog sunning himself on our deck when I got home from work Monday! He's got a hole dug there too! I haven't seen a bunny yet this year, so possibly, if you get yourself a groundhog, the bunnies will go away?!!

If you decide you want to try it, I'll try to box him up and overnight him to ya!

There are granular products you can buy to sprinkle around the garden to repel animals. Keeps dogs away from shrubs, too. They are available at garden centers, hardware stores, etc. I think they are a bit pricey, but it depends how bothersome the animals are, it might be worth it to you. They don't like ammonia either, but I don't know how practical it would be. Ammonia is what we used to get a skunk out of the garage once, soaked a cloth in it and tossed it near him. (Made sure there was a good supply of tomato juice on hand before this procedure.) haha Or maybe you could make mesh covers for the plants? Stakes and chickenwire are not too expensive at the hardware store. Good luck. smile

Nothing that a clean shot with a BB Gun couldn't take care of! (I'm kidding!) :P

Seriously, my wife has tried all kinds of deterrents. Even laying out mothballs, but even that didn't discourage them from chewing up her tulips. She's tried almost everything everyone's suggested so far to no avail...

Well, I got home tonight and had a bunny in my backyard. I really wasn't sure at first that it was a bunny, 'cause he had NO EARS!!! Must have froze off this winter! Talk about a strange looking creature!

Anyway, I got some garlic cloves and put them all around the deck and around the foundation of the house, so we'll see how that works.

I was going to mention the marigolds, too. Supposedly they work in between rows of vegetables in veggie gardens. I also read something briefly about dried blood which you can get through a garden shop. I guess the animals smell it and it scares them away. Logical --- blood would scare ME away!

Believe it or not you can purchase coyote or fox urine in spray bottles. It is supposed to repel deer as well as bunnies. A well stocked garden center should have it. I don't want to know how it is collected in the first place though.
