Phil Spector Arrested

I'm not surprised. I've heard rumors that Phil has been a strange guy since the 60's. There are alot of musical legends who are/were freaks with their personal lives. Just like that certain homosexual pedophile, face and body self-mutilating musical genius freak who claims that "Billie Jean" is not his lover. When he grabs his crotch, I shudder to guess what he is thinking about... Most likely, a 13-year old Michauly Culkin. crazy

I was shocked when I heard Ronnie Spector on television saying she had to sue Phil to get any money for her work with the Ronettes! Now this.

We can only hope that if he wasn't there much and there were lights on at night, maybe this lady was staying there and someone else shot her, but if the police have arrested him on suspicion...it doesn't look good. Very very sad.

As for Michael Jackson and Robert Blake, both very talented individuals, no one witnessed their alleged crimes, but it takes a really dark soul to commit either one.

At first, I hated to believe O.J. killed his wife and friend also. It's difficult for me to accept that world class talents are capable of such terrible things, but to be so talented, one must have a super sensitive nature, and is, I guess, more sensitive to one's own inner demons as well.

One of my favorite actors is Robert Downey, Jr. So sensitive, so talented. I'm glad he seems to be cleaning up his act. It's very sad that not everyone can overcome these problems.

I really don't think Phil Spector intended to kill the victim, but he probably did do it...in the past he has had guns in the recording studio

and have threatened artists -- including Leonard Cohen, members of the Ramones, and John Lennon...

My guess is that was one of those kind of things that Spector was known for doing, only this went awry.

Sad, to say the least. But really surprised, knowing the number of these incidents Spector has had, that this didn't happen previously to someone else.

Phil Spector is an oddball. When he was inducted into the Hall Of Fame, he made dispariging remarks about Bruce Springstein, The Beatles and even mentioned Eric Carmen "stealing" his wall of sound. What the moron didn't say, was that these artists applied his technique, which was not patented as have artists from the sixties to today. This is not the first time he has been in trouble, and if you read his history, this is not at all unusual for him. He was a great producer, but being a great producer does not put you above the law. angry

This also has a bit of deja vu with another record producer, Joe Meek. In England, Meek's production techniques were well-renowned at the same time as Spector's, having produced a similar number of hits in the UK, mostly in the late 50s/early 60s pre-British Invasion era.

Whereas Spector achieved his "wall of sound" using echo/reverb, Meek's sound came from using compression and limiting.

Sadly, like Spector, Meek had similar types of disorders. In 1967 he shot a woman to death before turning the gun on himself.

I think producers get to much credit when something is good and to much blame when something is bad.Who could'nt produce the Beatles,or Eric Carmen or Billy Joel.Great songs make great albums. As a producer all's you need to have is enough sense to stay out of the artists way.I really hate it when I see someone who throws away great opportunity.Spector is an idiot. Here's a guy that has it all and he just has to throw it away.More than likely MR.SHAPIRO will get him off just like O.J. got off.Idon't have 1 second on my time to waste on someone like Spector who has wasted his life and the life of a young lady.sorry for he ramble but this guy ticks me off.

Sorry I gotta disagree with Stut5 about producers getting too much credit. Using George Martin as an example, in my opinion, if there ever was a 'Fifth Beatle', it was George Martin. He had the incredible ears to know what sounded good, what the songs required, and he definitely had the respect of John, Paul, George, Ringo and Brian Epstein. I would say the same about Phil Ramone (Billy Joel's producer) and Jimmy Ienner. As a producer Phil Spector had some incredible ideas, but there's no denying his life has been way out of balance for many years. I can only hope that his chief student, Brian Wilson is not affected by this horrible turn of events.
