JuliaD
Gosh, marvin, that's too hard. Rather than pick 10 albums, I'd be more likely to pick 10 artists.Just about anything by:EricTommy JamesINXSJourneyGary PuckettAngelCulture ClubBee GeesDead or Aliveand...A lot of 70's and 80's "one hit wonders"
marvin
Yes I realize how difficult making a list like this is. I've made similar lists and have tried different things to narrow down the field. Finally decided to break the list down by decade and I still have over 100 albums on my list!MARVIN
darlene
Okay, Marvin--this has to include some of my favorite albums from when I was very very young and I listed them from the earliest:1) Raspberries - Raspberries (1st album)2) Procol Harum - Procol Harum3) Raspberries - Fresh4) The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds5) The Eagles - Hotel California6) Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery7) Led Zeppelin - Untitled (Stairway to Heaven)8) Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour9) Beatles - White Album10)Beatles - Abbey Road
darlene
Oops--I didn't list them from the earliest--in fact, in no particular order... --DBut--how about listing the absolute favorite 45s you bought from when you were very young--if you could only take 10 of those????--D
marvin
Darlene, you listed two 'berries albums! Bad girl!MARVIN
Bob Allen
What across-the board tastes (my god, someone's list even included my former sister-in-law Robin Beck -- didn't think anyone had ever heard of her!). Was glad to see Marvin's listing of Dwight Twilley Band's 'Sincerely' -- an absolute classic and desert-island record if there ever was one, as well as another poster's inclusion of the fine Bacharach/Costello 'Painted From Memory.' As Rodney Bingenheimer might say, that one's "Godhead." A 'Top 10'(or 12)is virtually impossible, of course, but here's what I'd need to survive on that island (musically speaking):- Pernice Brothers: Til the World Ends- Raspberries: Fresh- Chamber Strings: Month of Sundays- Big Star: #1 Record- Beatles: Rubber Soul- Artful Dodger: Rave On- Beach Boys: Pet Sounds- Dusty Springfield (pretty much anything)- Aimee Mann: Bachelor #2- Slade: Sladest- Badfinger: Straight Up- Alice Cooper: Greatest HitsCheers Y'all...Bob AllenSyracusePS: For the softer side of things, posters may want to check out the (relatively) new CD by Art Garfunkle, whose voice still can invoke shivers (at least in my case). Some very nice stuff and he shares vocals w/ 2 very excellent singer/songwriters from NY.
marvin
Bob nice to see Slade on your list. If there was a campier band in the history of popular music...,Also,Badfinger and Big Star are great choices. Ok now you've got me totally intrigued about the Pernice Brothers. Can you email me off-line so that we can discuss?MARVIN
Tony Cartmill
C'mon people! Everyone knows that "Starting Over" and "Raspberries 1st" were the best 'Berries albums. Not the middle 2. I love stut5's Yes-"Close to the Edge" selection. Like a cool musical drug trip without the drugs. Marvin, have you heard this 3 song 1972 gem? marvin
Tony as much as I admire the musicianship of the members in Yes, I've never been a big fan of their music. MARVIN
