Lew Bundles
Speaking of spelling, what is the longest word in the English language that can be composed by just using the top row of letters on a computer/typewriter keyboard?By the way Kirk, this intelligent question comes from the poster that you affectionately labelled as "The Idiot" a while back...I took some classes to make you proud of me...By the way, I didnt complain or ask that your post be deleted...I never saw it but a member of my "posse" stood up for me... darlene
I have news for Lew and all the "losers." Remember why we all went out on Saturday night (and weekday nights too, often too tired to show up for work the next morning!)? Because we were looking for "action." Looking for *something* we thought would be exciting. I remember dolling up in my black satin hot pants, gogo boots and going to the same place every Tuesday night. And guess what I found (besides a great local band)? The exact same faces that were there *last* Tuesday night! As I recall, I never "found" *anything* when I went out looking. It was when I got sick of looking and stopped that I found it.And that, my friends, is the elusive mystery of life. Whatever you're looking for (the "perfect" soulmate, the Olympic gold, the "perfect" musical performance, "success," etc. etc), you won't find it when you're looking hardest because you're trying too hard. You'll find it exactly when you decide you don't want it or don't need it anymore! I wish I had known that when I was 14! It would have made my life a lot easier! We're not going out looking because we've *found* it. It's a scary world for young people who *are* looking. People aren't as much what they seem to be as they were when we were young. So, as Loretta Young once offered as one of those sweet bits of wisdom on her television program, "Happiness is found at our own firesides and is not to be picked up in strangers' gardens." We've arrived. We've found contentment. I'm HAPPY to be on the board and not doing report card grades. And I have my best performances when I relax and tell myself it doesn't matter. So don't think you need to be somewhere else on Saturday night, Danmichel! You're exactly where you're supposed to be--content--and on the board! Now Lew can relax and enjoy all that sex, either with Lewisa or "All By Homself." Besides, Lew, you'll meet a better class of people that way! And, TOMMY, if you're good, Lew might even invite you over to watch. --Dar

darlene
PS And for anyone who thinks that "looking" was so much fun, even that their first love was so breathtaking, there's a song by (I think) Sarah Buxton that describes it very well. She describes sneaking out to meet her first love and all the excitement and risks of it, and then she goes back to the scene of... and says, "I realize it isn't him I miss, it's that young girl, wild-eyed, first love, one time innocence."*THAT"S* what we all miss, folks. Not really BEING there (if we think back, it really wasn't as great at the time as it seems to have been now), but we miss being YOUNG and miss all the "first times."I LOVE that song! I remember thinking, "Wow, she hit it right on the head!" --Darlene

I assure you I am neither a homosexual nor a voyeur. If I were I'd much rather watch Loretta Young by herself than Lew Bundles. Yuckie pewie!!! And they say I attack people on the board. LC
Lew, here's your theme song for this thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KynpC1e9I9E ... courtesy of John, Paul, George, & Ringo. It's absolutely live, too --- no lip-synching. Just for fun, here's another live version (note Lennon struggling with that harmonica around his neck): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRT9kO7mzWc There --- I just spent a half-hour watching "I'm a Loser" videos, Now who's the loser? Lew Bundles
Darlene...I'll tell you the truth...Thre were a lot of things in your post that were a real positive for me to read...After my wife hightailing it out of here after 23 years, its nice to hear I dont have to sweat it out...As John Waite said..."What took you so long to find me"...Also, philosophically, if you ever get a chance, thematically, there is a song by Lorrie Morgan that may be right up your alley...It's called "Once Upon A Time" and its from an album of torch songs called "Secret Love"...Most of the songs are covers and there are some real hauntingly, sweeping arrangements and sentiments... Kirk
Hey Lew, I'm pretty sure I haven't called anyone here an idiot, so I hope you'll give me the benefit of the doubt on this one. I think you're a funny guy, I enjoy all the banter and everyone's sense of humor. Have a great holiday, Lewser Kirk.

darlene
Lew, You're really a romantic kind of guy when it comes to music. I have a friend who, with her husband, was a fixture on the polka circuit, so when her husband left for another woman, everyone knew about it. She was sad, but just decided it wasn't going to ruin her life. When anyone asked her about it she said she wasn't looking for anyone else but that she enjoyed dancing and was going to keep on doing it. She often wound up at the same dances as ex-hubby and new girlfriend, but she just smiled and made sure she had a great time, no matter what. She found a regular dancing partner and after a year or so it became serious. They're now married and she says, "He did me a *favor!*"When something ends, it only means that something better has a chance to begin. --Dar
danmichel
A few years ago i was driving around my hometown...listening to the radio...As i topped the hill that overlooks the downtown area The Allman Brothers Ramblin' Man came on the radio...I looked down the hill and on the edge of the horizon i saw the full moon rising...Just like i remembered it...it looked the same as it did when i was 17...The sound of that song and the sight of the moon took me straight back to 1977...and i wondered...Would any of my old friends still feel that way?...Could any of them still hsve fun cruising around town singing like lunatics to the song on the radio...It was a bittersweet moment...I almost didn't want to know the answer...because i was afraid i was the only one...It really made me think about the way life changes people...and i drove back home with a tear in my eye...and the words coming together in my head...There is nothing cosmic about the words i wrote that day...But it still not an easy song for me to sing...Pardon the length of this post as i present you my observations..."SINGIN' TO THE MOON"saw the full moon risin' nice and slowthought about you, don't know why, you knowmust have been that song, on the radiowe would belt that thing out, every night, oh(CHORUS}who were we singin' to?can we still sing at all?when the sultry sun fell down back thenwe were singin' to the mooni go to places that we used to gohalf lookin' for you, on the sly, you knowmust have been that song, on the radiothe one we'd be singin' every night, oh(CHORUS)who were we singin' to?can we still sing at all?when the sultry sun fell down back thenwe were singin' to the moon(BRIDGE)and the days go by much too fast these daysi don't see the nights at alli was just thinkin' 'bout our crazy waysyou know i just had to callso i'm drivin' 'round with the radioblastin' it out, cruisin' down the roadthen here comes that song, that we both knowand i started screamin' it out, oh(CHORUS)who were we singin' to?can we still sing at all?when the sultry sun fell down back thenwe were singin' to the moond.b. michel/2000

darlene
Nice lyrics, Dan. I know exactly what you're feeling. Sometimes you just get totally transported to another place and time and you feel exactly like that age again. And you wonder if the people you were with back then still feel that way or still would, in the same situation. I would bet a lot of those old thoughts/feelings came up unbidden when Eric found his "treasure chest" of songs and notes. Like he said, it's a "timeline of his life." Somewhere upstairs I have a "Memory Box" crammed full of old things from high school and college. Someday, I just must go through it all. --Dar
danmichel
Thanks Darlene!...Personal history comes to life when you can see and touch an old artifact...and remember seeing it with much younger eyes...Or even if you don't remember it...It fills in a piece of your life that had been lost in time...That's pretty cool too.
