Paulie Mississippi
Wow. Incredible story, though I'm sure our liberal friends will call it something that is not important to the American people... as if how we treat our families, friends, and pets do not reflect on our own character... marvin
Hey I love all my relations, and I'm by no way perfect, but there are some uncles / aunts / cousins that I wonder how the heck I ever became related to them.
Tony Cartmill
"Hmmmm, Me thinks the lad does protest too much!" About as much as we do...But if you can't even reach out and help your own poor relatives when you are a socialist multi-millionaire, then how many of us 300 million are gonna fall through the cracks when you make us all dependent on you, with your new Obama-nation utopia?I think I might wanna try my own evil capitalist freedoms and ideas, thank you... Maybe McCain should donate one of his many houses to someone who is homeless or one of his relatives that needs a helping hand.
Tony Cartmill
McCain doesn't have to. Because capitalists don't have to pay for everybody else's inadequacies, socialists do.Besides, Don't you know that all the McCains are filthy rich, you Canadian peasant, you! Eric Carmen
Hey you guys, ENOUGH ALREADY! This is never going to get us anywhere! As a matter of fact, this is EXACTLY what the folks who are really running this world WANT us to do.We're supposed to believe that Obama and McCain are complete opposites, divide into our respective camps, and adamantly support one of them. This continues to give us the "illusion" of democracy, a government elected by the people, for the people. Before you continue trading barbs and insults, I suggest you google "The Bilderberg Group", "The Council On Foreign Relations," and "The Trilateral Commission." Look at their membership, and their stated goals. Go back and look at the history of NAFTA and GATT and what their impact has been on the U.S. And while you're at it, take a look at the creation of The Federal Reserve and it's ramifications.I believe that will stop the infighting here, but it's going to scare you to death. Please let me know what you think.Eric
austinberries
whoa, Eric's back! i knew u were bloggin' politix over on your myspace page, but you gotta understand, i think we all actually *enjoy* the point/counterpoint in the political posts here - it's the nature of political blogssure we get sarcastic & irreverent & wise-ass & scuff things up, but in the end its all just a release avenue for political "hobbyists" & we have some fun w/ it (& yes, some tension is occasionally exchanged) & good, valid points are put fwd on each side in a week, it'll all be moot (sorta) & i keep saying we'll just go back to being Raspberries/EC fans, altho' the O-haters may just keep on hatin'btw, your insight into the groups you list above are well-informed; the fact that you know even about & are aware of them has you several dozen steps in front of the avg American citizen/voter. the tendrils run deep, my friend, & the insidiousness is very real, tangible, & ominous, & are not wild-eyed conspiracy theories, as many would prob rather believe
austinberries
btw, hollies please update us on the hour, every hour, on Obama's cruel, ruthless neglect of his great aunt's second cousin's nephew's dog. important stuff, ya know

hollies65
To Eric; I do believe at this time, that it may be time to be a bit more protectionist with our trade policies.Never thought I'd say that.

Tony Cartmill
I'll do some homework per EC's request, but am I wrong to assume that the USA has gotten SCREWED by almost every trade deal we have made in the last 20 years? One reason by design of one world order, and the other because we are so afraid we might be perceived as taking advantage/exploiting other countires? (Thank you Lib-guilt syndrome!) Eric Carmen
By the way, I find it particularly cynical the way MSNBC has become the perfect "left" to Fox's perfect "right." If you're for McCain, you watch Fox. if you're for Obama, you watch MSNBC. If you REALLY want to have some fun, ( after you finish your last assignment ) google "Who Owns What?" It's been a while since I visited the website, but if memory serves me, it's affiliated with Columbia University or some other terrific school. There, you should find a list of all the radio, television and cable channels owned by "Hearst" for instance, as well as all the newspapers, magazines and print media all under one roof.To understand what's really going on, you have to look at who OWNS the media you're reading and listening to and watching. Then you can look up their political contributions. What you'll find is that a very large part of the "liberal" media is owned and/or controlled by decidedly "right leaning", conservative guys.If you dig deep, you'll even find that some of these media conglomerates have been CIA fronts since the 50's.Isn't it a bit odd to find a "right wing" media mogul in control of MSNBC, which is owned by Microsoft and NBC, which is owned by General Electric. Do you guys think Jack Welch was a Democrat?
boopell
I've been working on the first assignment for the last couple of months. Very interesting and scary, but most of all it makes me angry. It also makes me realize how little say we have. I have almost no faith in our government or system anymore. raspathens
CIA fronts? If that was true, or provable, we would know it by now. Have these assertions been tested? I am an open minded person but I don't see that. The problem with these books is that they make grand assertions and the only way to counter the author's work is to publish another book or article rebutting each point. Who has the time, money or inclination for that? So, the book sits there, unchallenged.
Tony Cartmill
Good point! I hope EC is not just reading an intriguing book and taking it all in as fact.I hope he doesn't think 9/11 was an inside job.And making the assumption that Fox News and MSNBC are the same, just on opposite sides, is a stretch since...RIGHT LEANING FOX HAS ABOUT 3 TIMES MORE DEBATE WITH REPS FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE ISSUE. THEY DO REPORT STORIES/ISSUES THAT MIGHT FAVOR THE RIGHT MORE, BUT ALMOST ALWAYS LET THE OTHER SIDE ON TO DEBATE/DEFEND.MSNBC HAS A LITTLE BIT OF DEBATE ON A COUPLE OF SHOWS, BUT OVERALL ABOUT 80% FULL OF "GUEST" CRONIES THAT MARGINALIZE, SMIRK, MOCK, DISMISS ANY ISSUE THAT MIGHT MAKE MAKE THE THEIR SIDE LOOK BAD, OR, GOD FORBID, MAKE THE OTHER SIDE LOOK GOOD. BUT ANY ISSUE, NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR INSIGNIFICANT, THAT WOULD MAKE THE RIGHT LOOK BAD?..."HELL, LET'S DEVOTE THE WHOLE HOUR TO RIPPING THE ENEMY!"You would have to hire 4 more Hannitys on FOX to equal out the embarrassing paritsan hackmanship that covers MSNBC prime time. Daisy McLintock
There, you should find a list of all the radio, television and cable channels owned by "Hearst" for instance, as well as all the newspapers, magazines and print media all under one roof.Following in their father's (William Randolph Hearst) steps - the Hearst clan does and will use their papers for political and other endeavors. William did so in 1912 with the Titanic disaster.
Eric Carmen
Tony, I don't ever read one book and assume the author is being truthful. I read the book and then google and fact check and read every other related thing I can get my hands on before I form an opinion. The forums that have been used to build public opinion, or dispute "conspiracy theories" are absolutely amazing. You wouldn't think "Popular Mechanics" would have much interest in politics would you? But it's been used as a "debunker' more than once.Do some googling, seriously.
