Ecstasy
I've dealt with ill pets, Chris. My family still laughs at me as being the fanatic who gave antibiotic injections to our turtle to get her through double pneumonia! Hey, it worked so don't laugh! Keep us posted and we'll keep praying.
missy
Animals give us unconditional love so I believe they deserve all the love and care we can give them back. They are so innocent that it kills me to see them sick. My husband and I have had our share of cats with serious illnesses, diabetes, operations, cancer you name it. We hate to see them suffering. Hang in there for him you rescued him from being abused so your in it for the long haul don't give up. My prayers are with you both.

MJ
My best friend just put to sleep her yorkie she had for 14 1/2 years last week - she was my favorite dog as well and we spent a good portion of that evening crying on the phone - most animals are thought by their owners as their children... so it is always hard to watch them suffer and know when it is time for them to go. Guest
Hey, no joke, we had a family cat named Rascal, and she was the last cat I saw within the family as I moved out pregnamt, and I honestly meant to take a picture of some cat who looked like Rasky into the delivery roon, but Doc threw me in three weeks early. A couple of years ago, she died at the age of 19.5 years, and she never did anything wrong to me! Even avoided my belly when she slept on my bed those 8 months. This cat lasted four yearsafter my Dad passed away and two after my mother went. My sis got her a new step-sister after she got married, and age just took over. Likely a heart attack. She was one of the lucky ones.My little babe is with me now, at one and a half years, her Mom is at my ex's place, and so are two of her brothers. Another brother is across the street. Two more out in farmland. Think for one minute I'd let that Momma cat go through another heat? Nope. I had both females fixed, and could not afford to have the males done. When I open my eyes and stir in the morning, my cat comes underneath my right arm for a hug. What can I say? Next to my children, the girl is my loving baby. I am lucky she is so healthy!I get free guard duty, too.
Ecstasy
Chris, I hadn't felt that way my whole life which is why I think I'm so impassioned about it now. When my son, Christopher, brought home a cat I was terrified of it. I had only seen my friend's who had become quite mean because of how she annoyed the poor thing. At any rate, I called up my sister and cried, "I have a caaaaat!" Yes, I fell in love with her and went on to adopt many other cats from the shelters. (AND we still have a turtle I adore!) darlene
I feel for you and Rascal also, Chris. It's sad when animals are in pain because they can't communicate their distress enough for us to try to help alleviate it.I'm sure his meds will kick in and he'll be much better soon. You and Rascal are in my prayers. You're such a loving, caring master! Rascal will get well! --Darlene
raspberrywolf
Oh dear dear Chris, you have had more than your share it seems to deal with this past while...I totally 'get' how devasting it must be for you to watch your beloved "Rascal" enduring pain and sadness. My beloved "Wolfie" who is now only going to be 5 but looks about 10 aged so much after he battled and almost lost his life to a 'bout of pancreatitis. My "Wolfie boy" is also a rescued pup and it seems he sure has had to endure alot in his young life. Please know Chris that when I say I am sending loving prayers for "Animal Angels" to watch over your sweet Rascal that I am doing just that. I will tell Wolfie about Rascal and maybe he can send his special 'Animal 6 Sense" sensivity/wellness vibes to help Rascal cheer up and get well. When he does, he has a playdate with Wolfie at the park ok?? I think that would be so wonderful!
BeatleJay
I'm sending my positive vibe to you and Rascal, and so are my 'girls'. You're a good guy Chris.

Margaret
Chris, I'm so sorry that Rascal is going through this! I had a similar situation last summer with my then 17 year old kitty. After literally months of getting nowhere with my regular vet, I took Nikki to a homeopathic vet who diagnosed the problem in 1 day! For some unknown reason Nikki had developed a sudden allergy to the grain in her food. Within 24 hours of switching her to a home-cooked, grain-free diet, her vomiting and diarrhea resolved completely. Now I supplement with a wonderful canned cat food called "Spot's Stew" by Halo Pet. www.halopets.com Spot's Stew is organic, human-grade, and one of the very few grain-free cat foods. They make dog food also. Anyway, food allergies are definitely worth considering in Rascal's case. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. chris hess
he is alil better today, finally eating lil by lil..ground beef and rice, nothing more..and barked a lil today,THAT is a good sign for him,but still pretty weak, but i'll take that over what he was!!! i want to personally thank everyone for your support and prayers, now it's time to go to our 3rd counseling session..on top of that,i finished my last day at work, and found out my daughter messed up one lil section on her federal assistance form for college and was denied..w/the deadline next week!!! god is testing me BIG TIME!!! lol, chris
chris hess
you know,if you're an animal lover,it's really hard to see your pet not looking/acting like they should, cause they have no idea what's going on with them..at least people, you can tell them what the problem is,kids included!! it's really emotional and draining to deal with as a caring human being for them..i do'nt know how vets and their assistants deal with this day in and day out..they are special people that's for sure..rascal is still not himself,i'm hoping in the next day or so i see some more improvement,if not,i'm going back in a heartbeat to follow up..thanks,lol,chris

Julie
Chris, Prayers are being said for your "Rascal". Gosh, if I didn't have my 2 kitties right now, I couldn't make it. They truly are my reason for getting on with life right now. Hope things improve on the marriage front as well. Having lost my darling husband who I loved so dearly and was my very bestest friend in the whole wide world, makes me want everyone to experience a marriage like that. AIt breaks my heart to see marriages suffer. Hang in there--you're in my prayers!Julie

Kirk
It seems like a lot of us have owned 'Rascals' (or in our case, Wrascal). Glad to hear yours is doing better, Chris!
raspberrywolf
Chris, if you do end up going back please ask your vet to check his fats/lipids for pancreatitis...this is one of the leading causes for a pet to start having extreme vomiting and diarrhea...not to mention they dehydrate faster than a human so you must make sure to sneak in extra water with the hamburger and rice mixter...heck, I even ended up buying pedialyte for my Wolfie which is basically 'gatorade for kids' to help him maintain his electrolytes. Btw Mike aka "Beatnut" that was truly a beautiful and touching poem/prayer you found...I saved it! Thank you for reaching out in such a truly beautiful way!
