Marvin: I have only met you once, and talked with you a couple of times on the phone. This is a forum for Raspberries, and while some may equal, none excel in your devotion and admiration for the group and its members. And...you appreciate their families and their other fans. You are, in my judgement, a first class guy who I am proud to know and call a friend. Besides all of that, my Mom said, after sitting near you at the second Cleveland show, that you were a really cute and nice guy!!! Thank you for being my friend and supporting Raspberries all these years. Do not waiver from your dedication to the band.

Marvin,

I am pretty new to this board too and I couldn't agree more with Dale's post.

Most people with they had a passion in their lives that they could pursue, you did and in the process some dreams come true for you.

What a wonderful thing to be able to realized; that you could live a dream. People who are caring will be glad for you, whether they know you or not. I know I am.

Marvin,

Welcome Back!

Though I'm rather new to the board, and a pretty quiet person by nature, I've missed your comments and observations here the past few days. Jealousy and envy are two extremely destructive emotions, and it seems a shame that someone possessed by those emotions would attack you in this way. Realize that whoever it was has a problem, but it's not yours, and well....it would be my hope that your positive energy would not be affected by that particular poison. I'm hoping that you can soon feel comfortable enough to post again, and please realize that the vast majority of us here are fervently supportive of your efforts to promote the Raspberries. All the best to you.

John

Marvin,

Your posts are always appreciated by so many of us. I have looked forward most to your comments regarding the shows you have been to. The way you describe those nights brought me right there with everyone even though I was unable to make it to Cleveland or Chicago.

Please don't let the hurtful comments of some drive you away from the many friends you have on this board.

Ann

marvin, it's good to see you back here! All I can say is, don't let the comments of cowards affect your enjoyment of this site. They have no backbone or they would have said what they had to say out in the open. You have a lot of friends here, and a lot of support, the very few who would snipe you... to hell with them. Life's too short to spend even one moment agonizing over people like this. With what we've seen in the last month, the tsunami, mudslides, floods, war, famine... it's nothing short of pathetic people find nothing better to do than take swipes at you. I hope I'm never that ignorant of what's going on in the world. Welcome back (and please stay) smile

Marvin, It's great to hear from you. I think what you have done was absolutely appreciated by Raspberries and all of us. But it's so sad some people just don't understand and hurt you. You are not flaunting or weasling at all. Nomatter what they say, we are by your side.

Hope to see you soon on the board.

Take care!

Kazumi smile

I have to say, it must make Marvin feel pretty darned good to know that so many people are in his corner. I'm new here and I don't really know Marvin other than from what I've read on this site, but he seems like a likeable guy and definitely a passionate fan. Matter of fact, he's one of the folks that made me feel welcome here and I appreciate that. Whoever it is who's said those negative things about him is obviously just spewing sour grapes and should be ignored. Or slapped silly. :-)

Hey # 5....do you know who else is # 5... Donovan McNabb, quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles! And yes, he is guiding them to the Super Bowl 39 in Jacksonville in two weeks.

Marvin, you've been the quarterback for this board (or at least the backup QB, to Bernie) for a long time and you've guided us to our Super Bowl, which already took place on November 26th.

Without McNabb, the Eagles would have been toast by now...without you, we may have never gotten to November 26!!!!

There are a lot of really "strange" people in this world and in a public forum, you're never going to make everyone happy, and in fact, you're certainly bound to get some of those weirdo's "pissed off", don't let the few @#$holes get to you. Those losers need to get a life.

I met Marvin for the first time at breakfast on November 27 at the Holiday Inn Express. After a brief conversation, I mentioned to Marv, that I had a pick from everyone except Dave Smalley...Marvin reached into his pocket and handed me a pick that he got from Dave during the sound check. Marvin is a man of character and sincerity...

Thank you, Marvin for speaking up and putting the rumor mill to rest...take your time getting back, we'll be waiting for you! smile

I'll try to get this speech in before the orchestra kicks in..Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments. You are my friends beyond our Raspberries link. Thank you to my buddy Tony for making me laugh when I really didn't feel like it. Time to move on to happier subjects. "Post Reflections" anyone?

YSKOGG, You, obviously, are not a regular. I have not seen enough posts from you to determine your personality/sense of humor. Maybe your post was meant to be humorous (in the vein of Tony Cartmill) haha , in which case I would let it pass. But the fact that 8 pages of posting took place should be some indication to you of our concern about the serious nature of this topic.

If I misread your intent - sorry. Perhaps a smiley/graemlin would have helped.

Marvin, glad to see the jerk(s)not getting you down for long. I never got the impression that you were "weaseling" anything; rather, you are a team player, and doing this for the benefit of all.

Besides this, I am also glad to see that everything outside of Raspberry-land is OK.

Now, back to football......

The Seahawks beat themselves.....No GB, Vikes or Rams.....and I kind of wanted to see the Colts in there......in any event, you have two really great teams that deserve to be there.....but I will have to say I'm partial to Philly.....

Hey wait! I haven't had my say...

Ah, Marvin, you unfortunately fell temporary victim to one of the oldest stories in the fandom book...the fan who becomes envious of the success of another fan in gaining closer "access" to the admired one or ones, and hence becomes downright contemptuous and hateful toward that fan, and will say and do anything to hurt that person...

Suffice it to say I know these types and I have experience with 'em. They are evil. I know the difference between a fan who becomes close to the admired person (people) and feels blessed and lucky about it and more than willing to help other people get there (i.e., you), and the one who uses it as a weapon to wield against others ("I'm close to So-and-So and you're NOT"), a status symbol and a means of power and control of other fans...which you never have. Even the latter type of fan deserves more pity than hatred, though.

Unfortunately there will always be those who develop malice and hate toward those who have what they do not have...and express it in the nastiest of ways. They certainly do exist in the skating world...you can ask Kristy (find out if she's ever heard of "Ann Lewis" or "Anjule"). Wherever they show up, they're a curse. I myself have suffered at the hands of several, and it was no fun at all. Luckily I came out of it with my sanity (and my "relationship with the admired one") intact. No matter what kind of mischief someone tried to cause.

I'm glad you decided not to let this one turkey get you down. It would have been a crying shame.

Welcome back!
