We will have the family New Year's day get-together this afternoon.

Ours is a mixture of Southern US and German/Norwegian traditions.

We have ham, black-eyed peas, greens, corn bread, grilled oysters,Olie Bollen a donut/ fritter and Ludifisk, lefse, oyster stew and Key Lime pie.

Strange combination

What do you do on New Year's Day?

We usually keep things very low-key. The kids and grandkids come over and I have dinner easily fixable in crockpots and the electic roaster (that way they can come and go at their own pace.) This year I'm down with a respiratory infection Indifferent so I think I'm just going to cheat and order out, play board games, watch movies, cuddle with John on the couch under a blanket... <img border="0" alt="[sleepWakeUp]" title="" src="graemlins/sleepwakeup.gif" />

Hope everyone had a fun New Year's Eve and Day. Me - spent NYE with a few close friends and today with another friend who is visiting from out of town. Watched the MSU Marching band on the Rose Parade. (That's for you, Sterling!) Love my champagne and finally had my first Dom Perignon. (Why did I wait so long? Love its "mellow" quality.)
