Peachie
I'm taking a guess here...Waylon Jenning's son may have sang that song? I'm stumped.
Peachie
Or perhaps the guy's from Leonard Skynard, which I think the band is renamed something else now...just another guess.
Paulie Mississippi
Peachie, it's not "Van Zant" or "Shooter Jennings"... but those are good guesses...TOMMY, thanks for the kind words. I might have a NY hat on when we meet too; although mine will be the one with the red circle and slash through the logo!

Paulie Mississippi
It's Sunday and here's a quiet little lyric to go with your quiet little day... But the struggles make me stronger,And the changes make me wise. And happiness has it's own way,Of takin' it's sweet time. Song title and singer please? I'll give you the full lyrics later. Paulie Mississippi
JohnO makes his presence felt. I just love this song... the mournful melody and the sorrowful lyrics... the video is filmed exquisitely... haunting song...LYRICS: LIFE AIN'T ALWAYS BEAUTIFUL - sung by Gary Allen Life ain't always beautifulSometimes it's just plain hard.Life can knock you down,It can break your heart. Life ain't always beautiful:You think you're on your way.And it's just a dead end road,At the end of the day. But the struggles make you stronger,And the changes make you wise. And happiness has it's own way,Of takin' it's sweet time. No, life aint always beautiful.Tears will fall sometimes.Life aint always beautiful,But it's a beautiful ride. Life aint always beautiful:Some days, I miss your smile.I get tired of walkin' all,These lonely miles. And I wish for just one minute,I could see your pretty face.Guess I can dream,But life dont work that way. But the struggles make me stronger,And the changes make me wise. And happiness has it's own way,Of takin' it's sweet time. No, life aint always beautiful. But I know I'll be fine.Hey, life ain't always beautiful,But it's a beautiful ride. What a beautiful ride. Paulie Mississippi
NOTE: Tuesdy's song. I'm not 100% sure it was a "top hit" as a single, but it garners a boat load of FM airplay and is quite possibly the act's signature song.Today's Lyric: Talking jive and poison ivy You ain't gonna cling to meMinute-taker Fall-faker I ain't so blind I can't see

Paulie Mississippi
JohnO, I'm going to let you have it because they did indeed record it in a distinct fashion. Nobody quite like Axl Rose 'n Slash, but the version I was seeking was the original, by Nazareth. When I think GNR, I think "Welcome to the Jungle" or "Paradise City"...Nazareth's only big hit, "Love Hurts" was not a typical cut... "Hair of the Dog", from the LP of the same name, was the definitive Nazareth!Current Scores TOMMY TUNES........(6.0) JohnO..............(3.0) everyone else....................................(6.0)And... the lyrics:HAIR OF THE DOG - Nazareth Heart-breaker Soul-shaker I've been told about youSteam-roller The midnight shoulderWhat they been sayin' must be truePRECHORUS:Red hot mama Oh that charmerTime's come to pay your duesCHORUS:Now you're messin' with a A SON OF A BITCHNow you're messin' with a son of a bitchNow you're messin' with a A SON OF A BITCHNow you're messin' with a son of a bitchTalking jive and poison ivy You ain't gonna cling to meMinute-taker Fall-faker I ain't so blind I can't seePRECHORUS:Red hot mama Oh that charmerTime's come to pay your duesCHORUS:Now you're messin' with a A SON OF A BITCHNow you're messin' with a son of a bitchNow you're messin' with a A SON OF A BITCHNow you're messin' with a son of a bitch
JohnO
Ooh, I blew that one....thanks for the point anyway! (I was just playing "The Spaghetti Incident" a couple of weeks ago, and I should have remembered those were covers.....some of them pretty awful ones...)
TOMMY TUNES
JohnO,I never heard "The Spaghetti Incident" but always wanted to. As I recall they did some covers of Punk tunes including a Sex Pistols TUNE. How were the punk covers?p.s. I think GnR's signature song is "Sweet Child Of Mine"
JohnO
"How were the punk covers?"OK....some were really good, I thought ("New Rose", the Misfits' "Attitude"), some were awful (the UK Subs' "Down On The Farm"....Axl sings in a dreadful Brit accent), and most were just so-so (Dead Boys' "Ain't It Fun", Johnny T's "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory", etc.). Like the last Def Leppard CD, it's an enjoyable listen, just to hear what they do to some of the old classics.
Paulie Mississippi
Yeah TOMMY, "Sweet Child" is a good one too... I guess some bands can have more than one "distinctive" or "signature"...
JohnO
So, Mr. Tunes - I understand the Dictators are playing the last Friday and Saturday shows at CBGBs ever, this coming weekend. Both, sadly sold out in minutes. You didn't happen to get tickets?
TOMMY TUNES
No I didn't. I just read about them playing there the other day. I was thinking about going. If you somehow have access to tickets please keep me in mind. I understand Patti Smith will be playing there also but the Dictators are the band that could gat me to CBGB's again after all these years (decades). I also heard that Adny is no longer in the band. Supposedly he and the Handsome One had a falling out. Is that true?
