Roll Over Beethoven

Here's one for Darlene and other classical fans....a report that says Beethoven may have been killed inadvertently by his physican, who overdosed him with lead. Ludwig was 57 at his death (1827). Well, it's not exactly tabloid material 180 years later, but... it's interesting nonetheless:

Poor Ludwig. This sounds plausible. Some strange things happened to musicians back then. Back in the days of Lully, conductors didn't use a baton to conduct in front of them. They used a stake-like staff to bang on the floor. Lully was vigorously conducting something when he jabbed the stake down on his toe and later died of blood poisoning.

I'm glad medicine is more advanced today!
