CubbiefanMike
Are the Yankees going to aquire any Sox players now that they are world Champs.. Reinsdorf has said in interview last night that no player is untouchable... but if he loses a talent he will replace them with equal abilities. I only hope that this isnt like the 85 bears where we win then some of are key players are dealt away. As a baseball fan last night was one of the happiest moments in my life only placing 3rd to my marriage to my gorgeous wife and my baby. The Raspberries reunion rates up there as well. CubbiefanMike
Which players do you think Steinbrenner has his eyes on... Sox or any other teams?
Billy
Congrats to the White Sox -- no doubt about it, baseball's best team. I'm a Mets fan, so I never see the Sox play -- I am really impressed with that club -- they have it all -- from Ozzie on down.
TOMMY TUNES
CubfanMike, Yesterday Yanks re-signed the best GM in the business Brian Cashman. Expect them to soon sign Larry Bowa as third base coach and Lee Mazzilli as bench coach.Ron Guidry is the leading candidate to replace Mel Stottlemyre as pitching coach. They would like Luis Sojo to move from third to first base coach replacing Roy White who they recently let go. Speculation that Sojo sees this as a demotion and may prefer a minor league managerial position instead. After completing the coaching staff look for them to re-sign H. Matsui before he becomes a free agent. They will probably go to free agent market to shore up weak bullpen eyeing Baltimore's closer and look to trade for a new centerfielder with Minnesota's Tori Hunter and Florida's Juan Pierre being the leading candidate. At this time they don't seem too interested in Red Sox free agent Johnny Damon. They believe they are strong in starting pitching with Randy, Mussina,Pavano,Shacon, Small,Wright and Wang. They are losing some big salaries -Bernie Williams and Kevin Brown(Thank God)I would like to see them look for a better defensive catcher than Posada but I don't expect that to happen. I think the team looks a lot better than they did at this point last year.
JohnO
There's really nothing wrong with the Yankees, IMO, that a mostly healthy starting pitching staff next year wouldn't cure. Of course, you can say the same thing about the Cubs in the senior circuit (will Wood or Prior ever be able to stay off the DL for a full season?).As a Yanks fan, I'd much rather see them get Hunter or Pierre in CF than Damon....the only positive thing about NY getting Damon would be that he'd have to shave and cut his hair! marvin
I think BJ Ryan would be a waste. They've already got Riviera.Marv
CubbiefanMike
White Sox media after the last pieces of confetti fell are predicting that Konerko will probably end up signing with the Angels, Everett will not be back if Frank Thomas is healthy. El Duque and Hermanson will probably be gone as they were not really needed.. Iguchi will be most likely traded. Without the players mentioned the Sox still look pretty good next year. Good hitting 1st baseman and 2nd baseman are a dime a dozen and there relief staff is pretty good.
CubbiefanMike
Look for the Cubs to make a comeback next year and Go All The Way... as long as they can stay healthy.
CubbiefanMike
Tommy like your picture is that a closed minded yankees fan piece of artwork... ppphaaa ah ha!My picture is Frank Chance (HOF 1946) from the Chicago Cubs 1907-1908 World Champions (1st team to be back to back champs!!) TOMMY TUNES
Hey CubfanMike, now that the Red Sox and white Sox have won World Series that leaves the Cubs as the last of the loser teams. If you're the average age poster here that would make you close to 50 years old. 50 years old and your team has NEVER won for you.oh, and for that matter your parents , if they are also Cubs fans, have NEVER had their team win for them either. Are your grandparents still alive? You get my point. 1908! 1908! 1908! As a Yankee fan, born and raised (it's like a religion you know), I get to see my team win the World Series every couple/few years or so. Glad you like my picture , but I'm married, and even if I wasn't married I play for the other team.
CubbiefanMike
Yes.. Tommy 1908 is a long time ago... but unlike the teams of the past this Chicago Cubs team is out to destroy that "loveable Losers" label. Think about all the recent competitive teams: 1984 division winners1989 division winners1998 wild card winners2003 division winners2004 finished one game better then 03 but missed wild card.between 1946-1983 no division winners... so we will be there soon... where would the Yanks finish if they were in the same division as St Louis and Houston? Thats right.. they wouldnt make the playoffs.

TOMMY TUNES
The Baseball Gods forgave the White Sox Black Sox scandel after half of the Yankees used steroids... cheaters never win. Once again you are using poor math skills. Giambi + Sheffield = 2. 2 is half of 4 not 24. Maybe you thought that loser Sammy Sosa who was a nobody until the "JUICE AGE" was a Yankee. Oh no, he played for that loser team from Chicago.Tony C nailed it with his 2006 prediction.

TOMMY TUNES
I declare the Boston Red Sox dynasty officially over before it even began. Ditto for the White Sox . As hard as it is for some teams to win more than once every 100 years (e.g.two aforementioned teams as well as that other team from Chicago)the Bosox are now learning an even harder lesson :It's even harder to stay on top. Therefore these teams and hopefullly their fans will have a greater respect for what the NY Yankees have been able to accomplish these past 10 years. Since winning it all in 2004 the Bosox have come in second place to the Yankees in the regular season, not even won one post season game and lost the services of their talented GM that took them to the promised land. They are in complete disarray. Meanwhile our pinstriped heros from the Bronx are gearing up for another successful season. How do you spell consistency?
CubbiefanMike
Wrigley Field is still by far the best ballpark in Baseball. Vintage, classic, close to the action, theres no other park like it.
