MJ
I was at work today, talking with this guy who is about 30, and I was telling him about how I was a Raspberries fan and he said "who are the Raspberries" which I explained .. and then I told him he'd recognize the song Go All the Way.... he went to Amazon and looked it up and then played it, and believe it or not he recognized it and said oh yeah I remember it, it's a great song....So at least he's heard it over the years from somewhere lol. Then the horror began, when I told him I wore the 45 out he looked at me with a straight face and said "what is a 45" OMG. I aged about 20 years with that one. I had to explain what it was - I forgot he was born in 1978....anyway I think I may be able to get him to go to a show if the band plays down here lol. I'm glad I didn't try and talk about a 78 speed record lol.
Ecstasy
The day Sunset Strip came out I was looking through the stores trying to find it. No luck. I came home totally annoyed and within a few minutes my daughter (age 21) arrived to drop off the boys. She asked what was wrong and I explained the problem. "Just go to Amazon." NO, YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!!! I tried to explain that when records came out it was important to SEE them in the store, to SEE the display, to HOLD the record and look it over!!! She stared at me for a moment and began to laugh shaking her head. She thinks I'm crazy but she has no idea of what it used to be like to see a new release. There was a ritual about it! Things are so passe' now.
HT from Mo
I can relate. My girls were amazed that LP's, 45's were all we had to listen to before 8 tracks came out, etc...I do miss the look of the LP album covers though. I do tend to date myself when I say "albums" vs. "cd's". I will forever more call them albums - can't help myself...
MJ
Tomorrow I am bringing two 45's in - one is Peter & Gordon's World Without Love and Hello Goodbye which is a picture sleeve lol - I'll show him what a 45 looks like lol.

HT from Mo
Yep. Me too. Although I sometimes refer to it as the music store or if I really have a Freudian slip it's Camelot Music!
Brian
Eric...Remember Record Rendezvous at Richmond Mall?? It was next to Richmond Brothers clothes...that was the first BIG record shop I was ever in back in '66. Rumor has it Mrs. Carmen bought a hundred or so copies of "Get The Message" there to pass out to relatives...urban legend????
Captain Harlock
I still remember vinyl and 45's. Even though I don't go to the record stores much I go to record shows quite a bit. There's something to be said about going from store to store on a saturday afternoon and combing the bargain racks.
