Guest
This whole time thing sucks, as AZ. is in the dark ages. We never change. Are you 1 or 2 hrs. eastern?
Anna R
I will have to call him and say hello. It is that damn cold weather!! I don't know how the east coasters do it. How is your weather in Florida? It has been gorgeous here.
LC
Anna, good question! I think East Coasters born and bred here don't even think about snow that much. You just accept it as part of life. One of my neighbors, after digging out of ice and snow and cold gunk yet again, just said he decided to embrace the white stuff this winter, because it seems to be staying....I guess there's a tradeoff wherever you live, really, because every region seems to have challenges, nature-wise, whether it's tornados or hurricanes or earthquakes or extreme heat or extreme cold. I've been a northeast person my whole life, EXCEPT for six years (1993-2000) when I lived in beautiful, sunny Richmond. That's the place, IMHO, with the perfect climate. And that's why someday I'll go back.... Or California!
Anna R
We'd LOVE to have you, Larry!! You know I was raised in the mid-west and knew of nothing else but horrible winters and humid summers. Then ( thank goodness!) my Mom decided to drag us out here. I could never go back.Your right about tradeoffs- we put up with WAY to many people and I avoid the beaches all summer. But I still wouldn't have it any other way!Never been to Richmond!
mannoman
Anna it''s has been very cold at night in central Florida this week. Very cold = 32-35 degrees. Cold for here, but a heat wve for others. But this week the highs will be in the 70s, w/lows in the 50s. Quite nice, but that's why we moved here 7 years ago. It's 59 at the moment (8p)
angelina
Well Anna ...you live in a beautiful part of the country weather-wise. I agree with Tom...it's been chilly by our standards down here in SW FL...but I love it. Also, LC, since I'm a transplanted New Yawka....I too can appreciate that one must simply accept that which one can not change...like snow. Personally I miss the four seasons.John

sterling
It is going to dip down to 0 or -5 tonight in northern Illinois. Tomorrow's top temperature 9 degrees!! A lot of snow still on the ground and more to come in a few days after our -25 last week. My wife mentioned something about after I finally retire for good that we go to North Carolina to live. I lived there one summer and it was hot but they do have milder winters...Must be nice to be in AZ or FL this time of year!!Phil

ira
My favorite thing about winter in the New York Region is 2 or 3 day old grey/black/and yellow (don't ask) dirty leftover snow...only topped by my salt-encrusted car and windshield. In his stand-up days Seinfeld had a routine in which he explains that for 65 year old Jews...retiring to Florida is not an option... it's the law!On our 65th birhdays the police get on the bullhorn outside our homes and order us to gather our belongings...get in the police van...and we are taken directly to the airport!Hell...I'm game!-Ira. ira
Anna...Seinfeld is the one who said Florida.I'd be willing to break this law...which I'm sure is a misdemeanor and not a felony and join you back in bee-yoo-tee-ful California in a minute!-Ira.
