Guest
Does anyone do the Facebook thing for business networking?I just started it and have found so many of the people I worked with back in the day! OMG, when they send their pictures I don't recognize most of them! But we are re-connecting which is a good thing!
darlene
Hi, Barb! I've heard that a lot of people are using Facebook for business networking and they're saying it really works. People who have lost their jobs have been saying that some of them are finding new ones via Facebook. Great idea! --Darlene
James
Is it the same as MySpace? I was fooling around one day a few months ago and set up a MySpace site. But every time I went there, it was like entering a smut house, with all the advertising etc. I quit the MySpace thing about as fast as I started.. marvin
I've been on FB for about a year, and find it to be much more user-friendly than MySpace. MySpace has its advantages - especially if you're a musician - but FB has allowed me to connect with many people that I had lost contact with over the years. James
On MySpace I'd get banners popping up asking me if I wanted a list of available married women who were on the prowl, or college women etc etc etc.It was really kind of a joke.Is Facebook different in that regard? And why is it better as a business networking vehicle, or in finding old friends?I'm interested as I may try it..
Danny S.
I just signed up at Facebook. I had 78 friend requests! Apparantly, its more for us "older" folk.....
marvin
There are no 'pop up' ads in FB - at least not the nonsense-type you see in MySpace. There are bunch of EC.COM members on FB, not to mention some of the band as well.
Guest
Tons of friends have lost their jobs... I can't believe the outpouring of networking. Radio and television got hit hard... especially the small local stations. They cleaned house at the local Clear Channel stations... what a bummer for these folks.I think Myspace is great for the entertainment fields, but the Facebook experience has been more productive for me (for networking), so far, all the way around. But just for fun, let's start a Raspberries Appreciation Group on Facebook! marvin
... But just for fun, let's start a Raspberries Appreciation Group on Facebook! There are already a few Raspberries-devoted groups on FB, and many of us are members.

marvin
Here is the one that most of us seem to be a part of:"The Raspberries: The Best Band No One Has Heard Of"
Tim From Wisconsin
what are the groups called Marvin? There is also one called "Raspberries Kick Ass!" that a bunch of us are part of. Tim
Julie
I have been on Facebook for several months now and find it to be wonderful. I just joined the Raspberries group today as a result of this post!I mainly joined it to keep up with my step-daughters and my family, but have also found some friends on there. For me, it's much better than MySpace--that site just gives me a headache! Like Marvin said, it's just more "user friendly". Wendy-Ann
Ok, to me facebook is a...and here's that word again...clusterf*ck! It looks like a pile of mass confusion.I feel myspace is more user friendly. I can block who I want and share with whom I want to share with and be creative. Facebook! Lord, I get people who I don't know and can't filter...I hate it! I'm on it for one reason, my nieces and nephews...that's it. BUT if you all like it...go for it! I avoid it like the plague! Julie
Wendy--Facebook lets you block people. You can be 'public' if you want to be and you can also decide who gets to see your pictures and things. You can also send private messages if you don't want to post on your wall. You have to request people to be your friends. I've only been on a few months--maybe it didn't used to be that way.

See Julie, I can't find out how to do any of that, and I am not exactly stupid. lol So to me it's zero user friendly. Myspace, I got up and running within a few hours. Facebook...UGH!All I know is everyone and their mother is sending me requests and applications for stupid stuff which I have to continuously block. On Myspace they have to know my last name and/or email address to even ask to be my friend...most people don't know either. I suppose it's to each his own...for me, it's a nightmare. If it works, then that is great. As for business, I don't need to network unless it is face to face. As for just playing...it ain't my cuppa tea. Muzza
Does anyone know if you can block all those adverts and popups on MySpace??And there is a lot of board members from here on MySpace.Muzza
Guest
I set up a Myspace page just so I could read Eric's page. The pop ups drive me crazy too, but the site seems to attract "younger" audiences. I'm a Mac user, so I'm limited as to what I can do to "jazz up" my page! Have had no luck networking with Myspace... but it's been fun. I have to agree with Marvin on the Myspace graphics...Linkedin seems to be the most professional networking venue on the internet for me, but some complain it's not user friendly. I've had more requests and interest from FaceBook, than anything else so far.
