Eric K. Robertson

Funeral services for Eric K. Robertson, 56, a lifelong Mentor resident, will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.

Mr. Robertson died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby.

He was born Feb. 25, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Eric "Kenny" Robertson was a man of many diverse talents. He was a musician, songwriter, recording engineer, teacher and entrepreneur. He was a loving father and friend. He loved life, nature and the beauty of the world and the people around him. He despised politics, war and the hurtful things that we do to our planet. He was a victim of chronic pain for a large portion of his life and yet he always found a way to bring joy and happiness to others. He was ever the entertainer and always outspoken. His original songs and beautiful voice could lift one's soul to joy, bring tears to the eyes, and warm the coldest heart. His greatest joys were performing as the lead singer and rhythm guitar player in his band "The Secret," helping others create their own music at his recording studio, "Audioworks" on the Westside of Cleveland, but most of all, he loved playing with his children, grandchildren, and "hangin" with his friends. His sense of humor and his laugh were contagious. They were evident even in his final hours. He left us with these last words, "Keep Rocking" and "I'll see you on the other side." The world is an emptier place without him, but we're all a little better for knowing him, and thus he will live on in our hearts.

A benefit concert is being held in his memory on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Beachland Ballroom in Euclid at 7 p.m.

The Secret and Abbey Rodeo will be performing. Tickets and details are available at the Beachland Ballroom's website www.beachlandballroom.com.

Details can also be found at www.thesecretband.net.

Survivors are his sons, Eric "Ian", Seth and Dylan Robertson of Mentor; grandchildren, Makayla and Alexander Robertson; sisters, Linda Braman of Florida and Charlotte Robertson of Mentor; nieces, Lisa Guffey and Lauren Davis; and great-nieces, Kelsey and Karley Sidley. He is also survived by Deidre Robertson of Burton, Mary Lynn Callahan of Jackson, Wyo., and many loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eric A. and Dorothy Robertson; granddaughter, Skyler Robertson; and niece, Janelle Davis.

The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made in care of the family.

You know sometimes my sister just gets real confused. The original Secret was Eric Robertson, Wally Bryson, Dave Smalley and Frank Muserra. And what a band it was with all four capable of lead vocals. They did record some demo in my cousin studio on East 24th street but I don't know what ever happened to the tapes. Frank left the band and it had nothing to do with music or the guys and was replaced by a guy from Parma Mark Chambers. This rendition stayed together for quite a while and even played at my wedding. Somewhere there is a video of Mr. Smalley, Mr. Bryson, and Mr. Robertson playing in Tuxes as they were all part of the wedding party.

Mr. Bonfanti was never part of the Secret.

Roadie #3

That is very interesting...when we were checking our bags the USAir lady thought we were heading for Ft Lauderdale for a cruise and was afraid our bags wouldn't get there with us.

We told her we had been up in Cleveland for the Raspberry concert and were heading home. She said she loved the Raspberries and in fact after they had broken up some of the members had been in a band that also played in Her wedding.

BTW our bags didn't get home until last night.

That's Frank Musarra, as the first drummer of the Secret, http://www.myspace.com/frankmusarra and I believe their 2nd drummer was Mark Chalmers from North Royalton who still plays in his old band (before Secret) called TEASER, reason I know this is because I use to talk with his brother Brian Chalmers who worked at the Scene, then I believe Brian worked for Columbia records. The Chalmers Brothers were extremely talented, Jen
