Kathy--My sister had a pair of those white go-go boots, and I gotta tell ya', whatever they were made of- combined with sweaty feet, left an odor wafting from her room that made me keep her door closed when she wasn't home-- <img border="0" alt="[blech!]" title="" src="graemlins/blech.gif" /> Kirk.

Stomping step, skip, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. Remember the Roach? The Train, Hucklebuck, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, The Bump, The Grind, The Pony, The Stroll, The Funky Chicken, The Bombshell and so many more. Then came the Disco Era! Everyone thought they were doing all these new dances and moves, when it was just ballroom to a modern beat. Almost everyone learned how to dance with the kids on American Bandstand, holding onto a doorknob or bedpost if you didn't have anyone to dance with.

I remember my kid brother (miracle I let him live) used to spray Pledge on the wooden floor, so when I got home from school and hit the floor to dance, I REALLY hit the floor. Then he'd go crawl under the bed so I couldn't reach him. Maaa...Richie sprayed the floor again! mad

Let's get back to the thread. Although it's not exactly the weirdest dance, it is weird how an otherwise empty dance floor can fill up when the "Electric Slide" is played at a wedding or party. Man I hate that dance. But what really makes it "weird" is the makeup of this now full dancefloor- all girls, no guys. Occasionally some lost(male)soul will be out there for a couple minutes. But that's it- all girls. I would like to hear from Lew Bundles and our other DJs on this matter.

TUNES, the reason there are probably all "girls" (again with the sexist remark) on the floor, is the guys are too chicken to get up and dance for fear of losing their "coolness". They don't want to do all that "sissy" stuff. Yet, who are the most popular guys??? The ones who can dance, natch.

Remember the school dances, girls would line up on one side of the room waiting to be asked to dance, guys on the other side, pretending they were too cool to bother. Then finally one brave soul would venture out there and suddenly it was like lemmings, now it was cool to go dance.

Hey Jen, Did you have a bedpost or doorknob to dance with too. Sometimes you were lucky enough to get a kid brother that you could grab or a sister when Bandstand was on. Unless you had a bratty kid brother who Pledged the floor like mine did.

That's not a sexist remark that's a fact that the girls dominate the dance floor when "The Electric Slide" is played. at least in NJ. Perhaps in Wisconsin it's different. Do sheep dance?

Not referring to the actual dancing, TUNES, when I brought up the sexist remark, just referring to the term "girls", when the guys were not referred to as "boys". But alas I nitpik. I'll forgive you, you can't help yourself. And I wouldn't know about the sheep dancing, maybe only the "ewes" get on the floor and not the "guys" in their case either.

Jen, as for "dorky" let's add "The Freddie" to the list. Girlfriend, we need to take you dancin' and expand your education, lol. Kathy, we need to take this woman in hand.
