TOMMY TUNES
Building on an idea proposed by my pal Popdude on a different thread I would love to have your ideas for a CD to get me (and others) through our current situation (wife leaving us). While most of the songs mentioned so far centered around the evil woman syndrome I would love to see more positive inspirational Tunes.Popdude posted:Author Topic: All By Myself popdude Member Member # 450 posted 10-12-2007 08:44 PM --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Tommy, building on Ira's suggestion, I'll have to make you a CD-R of some appropriate TUNES that will help make you feel better about your situation:"You're No Good" - Linda Ronstadt"Bitch" - Rolling Stones"Stupid Girl" - Rolling Stones"Dumb" - Silversun"Devil in Her Heart" - Beatles"I Don't Care About You" - Fear"I Threw it All Away" - Bob Dylan"When Our Vows Break" - Tommy Keene"Liar" - Sex Pistols"Evil Woman" - E.L.O. Maybe we should start a thread dedicated to selection of material to be included on the CD-R. Maybe another "Liar" - this time by Three Dog Night.Or "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" - Dionne Warwick.Or...in keeping a bit on topic with this board..."Cry" - by the 'Berries, of course!S*

Duane
OK, here's a positive one...or at least a "I'm gonna be OK" song.By Request by Billy Vera and The Beaters is one of my favorite non-EC albums. Not a solid album, nine songs of which six are mediocre (at best)...but, oh, those other three are great! At This Moment is the one everybody has heard...made famous on Family Ties. The other two are two of the best songs that nobody has heard...right up there with Boats Against The Current. Hopeless Romantic and this gem...Here Comes The Dawn. HCTD's message is, IMO, no matter how dark it gets, the dawn is coming (others might not see it that way...what do I know...I think Boats is a positive song). Vera's only problem with these three songs is that he can't end them. At This Moment was cut down for radio and HCTD runs over 11 minutes. The first 8-9 minutes are perfect but then it just goes on and on (like some of my posts!). Still a great song. I don't have a link to the song...here are the lyrics: Here Comes The Dawn - Billy Vera and The Beaters(talking intro)This one's all about losing.Something we don't like to talk about or think about, but sooner or later...that losing boogey man will sneak up on you. It's all about risk...and happiness.See, I believe with all my heart that you can't,you can't reach that highest level of happinessunless you risk total annihilation. And Baby, oh.But the down side of that is that occasionally you will be annihilated. But I'm a witness that it was worth it.I swear to God it was worth it.But no matter how you try to be...You know men, we're trained to be macho men...But in the wee wee hours when nobody's around,Nobody to show off to,that's the time when you can admit to yourself... (beginning of song)I'm not that strongI'm not that braveSometimes I think that I won't make another day.Since you've been goneall I ever seem to do is cry.Oh, yes, I cry!I'm not ashamed.Sometimes it only takes the mention of your nameto set me off to wondering if my eyes will ever dry. Here comes the dawn again. No sleep last night again.I cried from midnight straight thru till daylight. Here comes the dawn again. Sometimes we need a little timeto find ourselves...make up our mind.I'll give you all the space you need,Cause I believe with all my heart in you and me, Baby. But that can't fill this empty place here in our bed, this burning fear inside my head.No matter how I tell myself that you'll be back. Here comes the dawn again. No sleep last night again.I cried from midnight straight thru till daylight. Here comes the dawn again. I don't want to spend another day without you, Baby.I don't want to spend another night without you, Darling...'Cause I miss you...I miss you with all my heart. I'll stand up and tell the world that I Love You, Baby. ILoveYou,Baby!Yes, I do... but... Here comes the dawn again,I can see it shining on the pillowwhere you used to lay your pretty head.and if I close my eyes...I can almost smell your sweet perfume. It's gone...It's gone...
