Guest Posted December 1, 2008 Share Posted December 1, 2008 Just wondering if anyone's had a chance to read this book... and if so, what impact it's had on your life?It's a powerful read, and I find myself re-reading it, especially when I want to make changes in my life. As part of my general interest in understanding how some people live, rich (as in meaningful & significant), successful lives and others don't have a clue, it has always fascinated me why some people who went through the holocaust managed to survive the conditions, and others gave in to their fate quicker.Thought provoking material... if you haven't had a chance to look it over. Guest Posted December 2, 2008 Share Posted December 2, 2008 It really is a very special work, Annie and I know you'll enjoy it.Books like "Man's Search For Meaning" and even "Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz" were actually written 60 years ago, but I've noticed the contemporary literature always "steals" a little something from both original thought pieces. Unless we grow up in a home that encourages living meaningful and significant lives, we really have to reach out for those pieces of the puzzle on our own. AnniekNY Posted December 2, 2008 Share Posted December 2, 2008 One of my favorite professors had several copies of Frankl's book on his shelf in his office (he's a prison psychologist and we toured the prison as part of our class) and he said that the truths in that book have not aged off aafter all this time. It is as fresh and enlightening today as it was when he wrote it! Thanks for reminding me about this gem - and you are 100% right - there were so many references to Frankl's material in my textbooks and lectures, he should have gotten royalties. Guest Posted December 2, 2008 Share Posted December 2, 2008 i had to read and reread to really understand a good part of it, especially the 2nd part of the book where he discusses logo therapy as it relates to motivation and mental attitude.
