Guest
I'm hearing a lot of horns in the neighbourhood lately, so it's that time of year again. People go absolutely nuts in the Italian and Greek sections of our city!Good luck to whoever wins!
angelina
I got intro'd to soccer when I worked in London in 1983. (Yes Arsenal was my girlfriend's team....sorta like rooting for the Yankees or General Motors).I must say though....Euro2008 has been very very entertaining. (A hell of a lot more entertaining than the NBA Championships). I'm happy for you wim!John
Billy K.
This has been a good series, no doubt!I never was a big soccer fan, but being abroad has changed that perspective....and the game is starting to grow on me.

Angloberry
Wim, it's just a pity England failed so miserably to qualify, but I'm backing your boys all the way!By the way, what team do you support? I'm a Hammers fan. Perhaps we should post a poll on the board to judge the degree of appreciation for the round ball game?
Billy K.
A bit of ironic sports year for me.......could care less about the NBA finals.....and not really getting into baseball(but then again we've had crummy weather in Seattle up until two days ago.)But I have been enjoying the Stanley Cup, Euro 2008 and golf....which is not normal for me. wimvriezen
The party is over for Holland, beaten by the brilliant Russians, 1-3 in extra time. Russia goes to the half finales against the winner of Italy-Spain. Congratulations to the Dutch coach Guus Hiddink, team captain of the Russians... pierre
I was watching Euro 2008 with interest, as I am half-Swiss, half-Dutch. The Swiss, as usual, played well but didn't get the wins that counted. The Dutch were dominant in the opening round, but they too have a history (save for Euro 1988) of not winning the truly big games.Having said that, Russia looked awesome and they deserved to win against the Dutch. As for the rest of the tourney, I'd like to see the Russians win now. I like to see attacking soccer, so I'm glad that the cynical, defensive style of the Italians has resulted in their elimination.
Billy K.
I saw most of the first half of the Netherlands- Russia game, and wanted the Dutch to win. But I think the Russians should go on to take it all.
wimvriezen
Thank you Billy, yesterday the Russians were beaten by Spain (3-0) and the day before the Germans beat Turkije (3-2). So next Sunday the final game: Germany-Spain
wimvriezen
Congratulations to Spain, they beat the Germans in the EURO finals: 1-0. Did you have a good party Carmen Smalley?
Guest
When I heard the horns honking on my street last night, I knew what had happened. For some reason, immigrants to Canada have this habit of honking car horns when their team wins! You just have to see the flags on their cars to see who won!My first son is into soccer, so it's a toss-up between whether to root for Ireland or Canada!
