MJ
I miss the Good Humor Man and going to Kresskee's (not sure of the spelling of that) and sitting at the counter to have a banana split and pop the balloons to win a free one lol - I miss the Candy Store the most - we had a great one in Wayne, they sold all the best Pop/Rock Magazines and had a soda fountain and great candy and gum selections. I bought some of my best magazines there - I wish I had kept them all now.

Guest Fresh
To Marc Nathan: For diabetes, may I suggest you look into the trace mineral supplement, vanadyl sulfate. It has been used by natural health practitioners for over 20-years to control blood-sugar.It is readily available over the counter at health food stores. It can make your body use insulin more efficiently, reducing the amount needed.Good luck. pierre
Salt and Vinegar potato chips were always among the Top 3 "established" flavours of potato chips in Canada in the 1970s-1980s (BBQ and "Regular" being the others). Sour Cream and Onion might have made some inroads more recently. It's strange that somebody in Chicago (not really that far from Canada) had never heard of the S&V flavour until now. But I had noticed that even in upstate New York, S&V chips are extremely difficult to find.Fortunately, regular S&V potato chips are still very common here. The challenge is finding the "rippled" variety, which holds the flavour better and is more interesting to eat. So, in addition to Crowded House and skiing in the summer, NZ can claim S&V rippled chips. Looks like my next southern hemisphere destination!Cheers

Next time you come to my area, make a short 10 minute (or less) drive to Stewart's Root Beer Drive-In. The food is to die for (probably literally, it's loaded with fat, but damn, it's good!), and the root beer is *the best*

JohnO
"I wish Gibson still made guitars for under a grand!"Hell, I wish they made guitars at any price that you could rely on!....(he said 2 short years after returning an ungodly expensive J-200 with a seriously twisted neck - discovered after finally using the truss rod for the first time.....gimme a good-old bolt-on neck strat or tele at this point...) Crg2
hollies65, I loved Frostie Root Beer-it wasn't so bitey, very smooth. I had one of those three years ago. Here's the official Frostie site: http://www.leadingedgebrands.com/ As for JohnO, I wish that Gibson just made a guitar that played and sounded as well as the ones they made in Michigan (no-those "Kalamazoo" brand guitars aren't the same thing).as for vinegar and salt chips, they aren't rippled, but Grippo's in Cincinnati makes the finest vinegar and salt chip around: http://www.grippos.com/store/index.html I wish that Fanta Red Cream Soda was still being made. I also wish that they would make it in glass bottles-it tasted better.
darlene
The old shampoos. More recent one: Willow Lake by LaMaur. Great company but it disbanded and was discontinued. REALLY great old shampoos: Halo (the original one)--fantastic!!!! Coiffure Italienne by Max Factor? I had brown hair and it had brown hair color in it. Fantastic shampoo. My old colognes: Skinny Dip (a real cheapie, but it attracted men like a magnet!), Catherine Deneuve (gorgeous!), Golden Autumn by Prince Matchabelli, L'Air du Temps by Nina Ricci, TIGRESS by Faberge (good one!) and Avon's "Here's My Heart," which is the only one my mom would let me wear at age 14. However, that one attracted the boy from the reform school... --Darlene
Kirk
There was this 'Apricot Essence' shampoo my wife was using in the 70's...was discontiued...found it at discount store for .99...bought everything they had...it went south for the winter before we could use it all ...Kirk. Leff'tHome
Darlene,I know that the Vermont Country Store used to sell Tigress and a few other hard-to-find perfumes. They are on-line and have a print catalogue, too.
Trindy
Kirk, you're bringing back memories...back during the height of the '70s "back to nature" craze, there was a brand of shampoo that came in three varieties...Green Apple, Apricot and Strawberry...I can't remember the name now, but I can see it so vividly in my memory!! Ecstasy
Darlne, you wore a lot of the same perfumes I did! L'Air du Temps I wore for years (now I wear Jessica McClintock as a classic), Tigress, oh and Charlie (until they changed it and I became allergic to it.) My mom used to wear this green gel cologne called Rain that I loved.I liked the fruity shampoos when I was younger and now my daughters love them. I like some of the newer exotic stuff, though, like the new mixes of jasmine, or wisteria, or mango to keep me from getting lonely for the old stuff. Bessieboo
I used to wear "Love's Baby Soft" and graduated to Shalimar in High school, I still do every once in awhile. I loved "Gee your hair smells terrific" shampoo and something like "For Long hair only", I can't remember the exact name.Funny how scents trigger such vivid memories . MJ
Green Apple Shampoo - oh that was my favorite - I used that all the time and the Apricot one. Do you remember Lemon Up Shampoo? Had the big lemon as a top - used that too as I am blonde and wanted to remain so lol. I loved the Yardley makeup stuff - my one cousin had a tray full of yardley pot o gloss, eye shadows, twiggy lashes, etc. Of course I was 9 or 10 so I was NOT allowed to TOUCH ANYTHING on her tray lol. In her closet were the Yellow Submarine Peter Maxx hangers of all 4 Beatles. I bet she's shooting herself now she got rid of those lol.
