two words Trindy......

Michael Steele

or two more Clarence Thomas..or these two Roy Innes

Geez...even two more.. Allan Keyes (although even he is too conservative for me..must be because he's black..LOL)

no more words needed because yours spoke volumes............on the Right's behalf. Well done! I reckon THAT wasn't intended.

I imagine just as many haters voted AGAINST Obama because he's bi-racial as those who voted FOR him just for the same reason. I truly believe it just wasn't that many.

I DO agree with ec that this country leans Right fiscally and a tad Left socially. In fact hollies65 and I happen to be pro-choice. But I KNOW we're REALLY conservative fiscally.

All "leaning" aside....Obama is my president, not with my vote, but regardless....I hope he does well...now why do YOU think McCain is senile? Rather magnaminous heh.

Trindy, People have the right to not like Obama, or his policies. Your hateful rhetoric towards the Republican ticket renders your post straight to the hypocrite waste pile. Your racist rant [it's his skin color] is tiresome. I mean what is the point of that "senile" bit? That "senile" guy is a true patriot who spent 5 years in a Viet Nam prison camp, so people like you could make fun of him. Real class.

As for Palin...hmmm she seems to have achieved quite a bit. I don't know what you have achieved in your life, but Palin is a college graduate, who majored in journalism, worked in that medium until she saw a problem at her kids school. She got involved...didn't just rant. In short order, became mayor, then challenged the corrupt Republican party in her state and was elected Govenor...all before 45 years old. What an idiot she is!

Met with a friend for breakfast this morning. He's laid the foundation for a career in politics and organizing... and today announced to me he's taking the plunge. It's his goal to reshape Illinois politics, and he's got what it takes to do it. Another good friend (from Somalia) announced to me a few months ago that he's committed to eventually going back to Somalia to help lead/lead his country out of the quagmire it's continuously in.

These guys are both intelligent, strong minded, competent guys. But more importantly they are special people, completely genuine, and both have only one motivation - to help people.

It's pretty cool, and thought I'd post as an antidote to the (much) less than constructive post on this thread earlier this afternoon.

I guess my friends' decisions have added a little credibility to my optimism for the world..

Is Trindy serious? The next thing she'll kid us about is she thinks Olbermann, MSNBC and the NY Times are cool, and respectable journalists...

Oh my God! She is serious! insane

I'll give Obama a chance. Since Capitalism seems to be on the way out, thanks to both corrupt parties and short-sided financial "geniuses" on Wall Street, what else could be worse?

WE'LL SEE IF THE IDIOTIC THEORY THAT THE WAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF OUT-OF-CONTROL SPENDING, DEFICITS AND CORRUPTION IS TO TAX AND SPEND EVEN MORE AND GIVE IT TO THE SAME PEOPLE AND INSTITUTIONS WHO ARE AT THE HEART OF THE CAUSE OF THIS WHOLE MESS (i.e. Gub-ment and Financial Big-Wigs)...Sure, that'll work...Just like Gub-ment-run healthcare for all. No way to pay for it? Doesn't matter, The Gub-ment has a magical credit card and a U.S. Dollar printing press.

Get ready for the "Amero" currency...AND ABOUT A 10-20 CENTS PER DOLLAR EXCHANGE RATIO ON YOUR LIFE SAVINGS...

God Bless America? arrgh

James.....stories like that are what energizes everyone worth his salt to get up each day and WORK toward what they believe is right. Booyah!

and Tony....one additional thing I fear about the "Amero"...it'll have the full backing and underwriting of.........The Chinese Gub-ment.

Eric was talking about AIG. Isn't AIG the biggest insurance entity out there? AND THEY ARE SUCKING OUR TREASURY TEAT DRY AS WE SPEAK!

They may be a very BIG entity, but that's because they are spread all over the place and Life Insurance, Disability Insurance and Health Insurance isn't their big forte. In fact they don't even rank in the Top Twenty Life & Health Insurance companies in the United States. My point being is that they don't represent the entire insurance industry, that's all. Most of your damage was done by companies that make loans like AIG and other Investment companies.

These top 20 are TRUE insurance companies and have maintained their strong rankings throghout this economic crisis.

This is your Insurance Industry right here...

Who obviously didn't pay any attention in class or else she'd know that Africa is a CONTINENT. Most GRADE SCHOOL children know this. This is the person you want as second in command??? You can't do any better than someone who doesn't know the difference between a CONTINENT & a COUNTRY??? Yeah, she's a regular rocket scientist.

I'd really like to know the true story about the context of that remark...Not just the "stab in the back" sour grapes anonymous leak. Can someone source me?

From everything that is written now, there was no source, it wasn't true.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/13/arts/t...amp;oref=slogin

*Dan Mirvish, who with Eitan Gorlin created an elaborate Internet hoax complete with a fake policy institute and a phony adviser to Senator John McCain.*

I too like to know sources if I am going to debate. This rumor was just that. NEXT...

I agree with Raspathens.

So far, Obama's speeches, however refreshingly smooth and easy on the ears, have been just a bunch of vague generalities about hope and change, that could be interpreted a hundred different ways by hopeful Americans.

The truth is, SINCE MOST OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA DIDN'T DO THEIR JOBS IN FINDING OUT WHAT OBAMA'S TRUE BELIEFS AND MOST IMPORTANT INFLUENCES WERE/ARE, WE DON'T KNOW WHAT ROAD HE'S GOING TO TAKE THIS COUNTRY DOWN...Except, that the Gub-ment is going to get bigger, and have more control over our lives.

I agree. Guess only time will tell ~ hoping for the best, for our country. Yes, I voted for McCain, but mainly due to how he was/is a (war)hero for our country, and more importantly, has more experience, and other reasons that I won't bore y'all with ~ LOL! I generally try not to discuss politics on boards if I can help it, but saw Tony's post and had to comment! laugh

As regards to Palin's supposed quote about Africa; That whole thing is BS...another case of someone hearing a soundbite and not paying attention to the real story. She never said that...Why do I have to explain this? Read and pay attention people...there is more to news stories than first day soundbites. What I posted about Palin is on the money.

She was running for the second highest position in the United States and she couldn't name ANY other Supreme Court decisions except Roe v. Wade?? She couldn't name a SINGLE newspaper or magazine she reads?? The Constitution of the United States guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of the press. While Palin didn't name any specific books, she "rhetorically" [cough] asked a librarian about how one would go about getting books banned. A few weeks later, the librarian gets fired. Palin says it has nothing to do with the ban incident. Yeah, right. If you believe that, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

I stand by MY opinion of Palin.
