marvin
Ted we knew from the beginning of this season that Mtl was going to ice a very European team. It's reflected in the style that they play - constant puck movement, not much physical play.
marvin
Hats off to the Flyers. Still the 4-1 Series win was not reflective of the play. Good luck to them going forward.

Tiggsherby
FLYERS, FLYERS, FLYERSWho'd have thunk it!!!!!
blackhawkpat
I'm stunned, not so much that they won, but to do it in five. I kind of expected Price to breakdown, but I honestly thught the Canadiens would outskate them and win.Heat is turned up on Gainey for trading Huet at the deadline (though the Flyers beat him in round one, too!). Tiggsherby
Philadelphia is SOOOOOO past due for a championship that this could be it. I like our chances, HOT goaltending wins the CUP and it looks like Marty Biron is on FIRE!!!!!!
marvin
Nah in the long run Price will prove his worth. The year has been an outstanding success - considering they were picked by many 'experts' to not even make the Playoffs. Unfortunately the bar in Mtl is set so high, anything less than a championship is considered a losing year.
mannoman
Mtl is a very good team and had a very good year and Price is a talented goalie. Last year the Flyers were the worst team in the NHL. What many folks fail to realize is the Flyers have become a well balanced team in just one year. Seven players scored 20 or more goals this season. The lack of a super star has lulled many teams into thinking of them as ordinary. Not so. The Flyers had a bad stretch in February where they lost 10 games in a row. Had they merely played .500 hockey (5 - 5) during that time, they would have won their division. All without Simon Gagne.Time will tell.
marvin
The Flyers' core group (Carter, Richards, etc) was good, but having the $$ to stock up on free agents such as Briere, Timmonen sure helped.
Billy
Philly will not get by Pittsburgh. It's going to be a Detroit - Pittsburgh final.
julesberry
I'm with you Billy. Go Wings !
marvin
Pittsburg has been coasting thus far, but if Philly gets 1/2 the breaks (good luck) they got in the Mtl series, they'll win. By the way, what exactly is an "RJ Umberger"?Dallas' grit will beat out Detroit's finesse. Right now Brendan Morrow (Guy Carbonneau's son-in-law, by the way) is on a mission. Dallas vs Philly in the Final.
Tiggsherby
I like Marvin's prediction....we've been suffering here in Philadelphia, last championship The Sixers in 1983...the longest wait of any city with all four professional teams!! blackhawkpat
Great win for the Pens, but where was Syd the Kid in OT? He was invisible for the three overtimes. I expect a big game from him for game six.
Billy
Is there any sport better than playoff hockey? I Could not leave that game last night, stayed up until 12:45 even though 6 AM comes darn quick....I could not leave the TV....you got it Julie -- intense! Can't wait for game 6 tomorrow night. Congrats to the Penguins and Wings fans -- you guys must be going wild -- this is awesome and I'm a Rangers fan.
marvin
It was a great game. Pens shouldn't have been anywhere close, if not for Fleury. He's making his #1 selection in the Draft look pretty good now.

mannoman
The Pens played hard but the Red Wings are the best in the NHL. They always seemed as though they had 8 men on the ice at a time. They were relentless.
marvin
Each player gets to bring the Cup to their hometown. Thanks to the many Europeans (especially Swedish players) on the Wings, North America might be waiting a while to see the Cup!
