ira
Hey I just wrote that to get all of you to pay attention. My good friend Anna is in Vegas this weekend...and it got me to wonderin'...That eternal question..."What would you do if you won 10 million dollars"? is too damn complicated...real estate...car washes...a McDonald's franchise...houses for everyone in your family? It could make your head explode!But-I was wonderin'...What would y'all (Yeah I'm from South Brooklyn) do if you won a sum of money that was a real bonus...But not life-changing!I personally would take a month off...travel to Vegas...then California...and then the Pacific Northwest and then on to Hawaii...maybe not in that order...I'd have to do some homework to figure out the order of my stop-overs.Then a coupla months later I would finally go to Europe and visit London,Paris and places in-between.What would you-all do if you won 25G in Vegas like our Anna did in my make-believe myth? -King Ira. MJ
I know what I'd try and do with it - hah! I'm not saying any more. Seriously though, I'd put most of it in savings - and then go buy a nice Fender American Bass - A Flying V just to put up on the wall for artwork - and maybe go visit some friends or go see some band - if they ever got their act together and put on a show! Hmmm - that reminds me - I'd go to England and see Mott the Hoople play this winter - that would be fun!
ira
I like your thinking MJ-Ira.
dianed
I’m not much of a gambler, but I do play the Mega Millions when the stakes are high. IF I ever did win, I would put some money aside for old age (which is a stone’s throw away) and help out some friends. But the most important thing I would do is pay the band give another performance and a SOLO show, pay for everyone’s airfare and hotel and the big party afterwards !! After all, money means nothing if ya can’t share it and ya certainly can’t take it with ya !!
ira
Diane..Old age is NOT a stone's throw away for you.Anyone who's met Diane knows that her looks put Jessica Simpson to shame and her sexy New Yawk accent can make powerful world-leaders absolutely melt!I know! Tim From Wisconsin
First, I would fly Anna and me out to see you Ira to slap you in the head for teasing about Anna winning! Then, she and I would visit Bernie, Tommy, Lew, Diane, and all of the east coasters before heading to the mid-west and then the west coast to meet all of the cool board people. Of course I'd have to win a heck of a lot more than $25,000 to make this happen - Maybe 25 million! Tim

ira
And Diane I'm sure you look smashing in every shade. But as much as I love you Diane...I think the "Tangent Police" have just pulled up outside of my house so I must urge everyone to quickly post stuff they would do if they won 25G.Please do it now before they handcuff me and take me down to "Tangent Police Headquarters" for questioning! -Ira
Shelley
If I won 10 million dollars, I would help out my kids and grandkids, and then go out into the community and find some real needy families to help...money dosn't mean a whole lot to me, my Hubby and I struggled most of our life together and now we are starting to reap the rewards...I really would not change my life at all...my house is paid, my car is running,We have good health, I have money set aside for "a rainy day"...I don't need anything else, but I would love to help those who really need it. canadianchick
If I won a nice sum of money..family would be taken care of ...and then I think I would open a really good hospital in my town...and try to make sure everyone got equal health care (ok I know, now I am dreaming) and if there was anything left....I would fly Styxx to come visit me...as visiting Canada was not on Ira's list of things to do.. ira
I just told the "Tangent Police" that I just got this thread back on track. The arresting officers just told me that I got 5 minutes for someone to post what they'd do if they won 25G...,and if no-one posts...they're takin' me downtown for questioning.PLEASE HELP ME! Muzza
Now that US$25,000 converts to NZ$50,000 and so that would mean Kiwi and I could come back to USA and visit everyone here including our friends in Canada and perhaps some in other parts of the World. Now that would be sooo cool. And Diane.... OLD age just a stones throw away.... Mmmmmmm what are you saying about me??? Muzza
darlene
Ira, I almost had a heart attack celebrating for Anna until I read your post! You lovable scoundrel! :-) You got me more excited than I've been since the last Raspberries show!If it were not a huge sum, I'd blow it on a trip to Europe for us to visit England (see Julia and Stevie Heard), France, Italy and Spain. And use the rest as Dianed would to pay for a Raspberries extravaganza. If it were a huge amount, I still don't think I'd hasten my retirement plans. I'd save some to go to CIM or Juilliard and get my performance degree. Then the rest would go to scholarships for future music and engineering students in my parents' Herman's parents' and our aunt and uncle's names. And I would hope there would be a HUGE amount left over for a "Raspberries" fund to make all their dreams (and ours) come true, any way I could. --Darlene
ira
Thank you folks for getting this thread back on track. The "Tangent Police" just left my house and let me go with a warning.Val (sadiis@yahoo.com) I've already booked a flight on "Frozen Tundra Airlines" to visit you with my dog "Styxx".I already have the $ to visit you from the loose change I put in a jar every day and therefore I did not need to list it as what I would do If I won 25G-Ira. Anna R
I am sad to say that I did not win any money But, I did not gamble a cent either! I don't go to Vegas to gamble- I go to see shows and to hit all the cool clubs. Which I did!I got to see Cirque Du Soleil's "LOVE" which is THE BEST show I have ever seen. It was unreal-the music, the dancers, unbelievable! I think I sat there the whole time with my mouth hanging open in amazement! Then we saw Criss Angel-the magician- and we all were disappointed. The highlight of our weekend was (besides 'LOVE') going to the Foundation Room atop Mandalay Bay. The wonderful Tim from Wisconsin, who so generously got us into ( HOB's private lounge). The view was astonishing! I have put a picture of me outside the lounge on the patio: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll70/AnnaRogo/031.jpg Tim, your a gem! I can't thank you enough! We had a blast ( some of us didn't remember the cab ride back to the hotel!)
Anna R
Oops! I almost forgot....Ira was afraid I would lose money and have to give up my Sadie in trade. SO he wants proof that she is still here with me!So, here is what Sadie does while I am away... http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll70/AnnaRogo/011.jpg

mannoman
Just remember, folks. For a Vegas win approximately 1/3 will go to taxes. Your lottery "cash" payout is approximately 1/3 of the jackpot won. Why? Let's assume a $30 million lottery win. it's usualy paid over 25 or 30 years in the form of an annuity so, the cash available to the lottery to generate a $30 million jackpot is approximately $15 million. Therefore ,if you take a cash payout, about 1/3 of the $15 million will go to taxes leaving $10 million cash for you (non-taxable). However, in Canada you'd get the whole $30 million (assuming you're a Canadian)So, THINK BIG!

ira
Anna when I showed Styxx the photos he said the following three things to me...(Yes I AM "The Dog Understander-er").1-Ira..."I'm really relieved that Sadie is still livin' with Anna in that super city of San Diego I understand that it is rated one of the greatest places to live in the USA".2-Ira..."Why don't YOU buy me any cute outfits...Enough with that "IAMS Dog Food S*&%T"!3-Ira..."How come I don't have as good-lookin' a master as Sadie does?
