hollies65
Ike & Tina heat things up circa 1964
popdude
I know this is horrible and tasteless, but somehow the headline in the NY Post announcing Ike's passing was also strangely hilarious:"Ike Turner 'Beats' Tina to Death." Bob Allen
Classic. Gotta love the Post. (My fave of the last several months was the Britney 'Unfitney' headline...then of course there was 'Chiptator' from a few years back...brilliant stuff. I could go on.) JohnO
My all-time favorite (and I can't remember if it was the Post or the Daily News) was when Bart Giamatti (MLB Commissioner) died, shortly after banning Pete Rose from baseball forever....and it was also in pretty bad taste! -"Bart Now Banned For Life!" Trindy
I believe the Post was the fine publication that came up with the all-time classic headline "HEADLESS BODY IN TOPLESS BAR."
darlene
That was for Trindy's headline. Whatever issues they had, Ike and Tina were great together. --D
Tony Cartmill
I met Ike Turner about 8 years ago, when he came into Guitar Center. He looked great for his age. He was talking all about music and instruments. He got into a deep conversation with this young dude about guitars. Later I found out he actually bought this kid a $250 guitar, because he took a liking to his passion...I think he bitch-slapped my co-worker to get a better price, but it was a nice gesture on old Ike's part.RIP Ike, but don't use the excuse, "Sometimes you got to put da' bitch in her place." at the Pearly Gates...It doesn't work for me either.
