Tony Cartmill
Listen to the entire Dan Fogelberg's double CD "The Innocent Age" 1980/81, full of a variety of good to great songs, and there will be no more mention of Fogelberg as overrated. Bob Allen
I'm not getting the Sgt Pepper/Boston thing above. Sgt Pepper is not 'over-rated.' It's a classic (although not my favortie Beatle disc).Boston was akin to hearing nails on a blackboard.Am I right, or am I right (as Mrs G would say)? ira
I gotta think that when you create a sound that becomes part of the fabric of American Culture-you deserve some "props".Sure some Brian Wilson stuff is overrated-but any movie, any commercial, any documentary- portraying the carefree spirit of summer has a genuine Beach Boy song or soundalike playing in the background.Like Stephen Foster is early America, and Cole Porter is decadent early to mid- 20th Century America-Brian Wilson music is the soundtrack of American Summers and California Culture. Craig Benfer
1. Never Mind The Bullocks by the Sex Pistols hands downs ranks #1 on my most overates albums list. I hate it. Only painful noise to me.2. The White Album is my least favorite Beatles album. As a whole, I just don't like it very much. I do love Sgt. Pepper though.3. Caribou by Elton John debuted at #1 on the charts and is still ranked by fans among his best. Not by me. It was his worst to date when released and I still don't like it much, though I love Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.4. Aqualung by Jethro Tull.....huh? Can't listen to this from beginning to end.5. Something Anything by Todd Rundgren. I really tried to like this guy. This one is hailed as his best, and I'll admit it is, but I still don't like it much. It has good moments, but it probably wouldn't even make a good single album much less a double album.
CubbiefanMike
I like the White Album... theres alot of great songs on that one.. Birthday, Dear Prudence, Blackbird, Glass Onion, Why Dont We Do It , Helter Skelter, Sexy Sadie, ... the Beatles did know wrong.. every album is a journey into Rock perfection. I agree with The Dead Heads... never understood them or the Velvet Underground... critics loved them.
Paulie Mississippi
There's a lot here to like and to dislike. Part of what matters is where you were in life when a particular album came out. I'm not a Fleetwood Mac fan perse, but I do like Rumors. I have played the hell out of Hotel California at times. Boston was big with the guys I hung with at the time so it got to be big with me too. It's funny how some albums seemed so important for a time and then it doesn't matter if you own them any more or not. It makes me appreciate Eric and the 'Berries music as I've never been in a place in my life where I didn't want to have it and could enjoy it! The NH Bushman
Hey Mike,Why do I have a feeling that I and probably most of this board would prefer the songs on this list to your five favorite CDs? Can you humor me and make a list of your five favorite albums of all time? [/QB]
