MJ
Better late than never - finally got a copy of it - so back to work I will go and will give it a listen. What does everyone else think about it?
hollies65
It's fantastic...Of special interest are two "should have been huge hits"....'I'd Rather You Leave Me' and 'I Only Did It Cause I Felt So Lonely'...both written by Wally.
MJ
I love Wally songs (no offense Eric) I love everybody's songs. I'm on It's Cold Outside right now lol - I have just 15 minute to listen to this before I go back to work. How come you don't hear Dave talk much about being the lead on It's Cold Outside - after all it was a hit.
JohnO
I also love this album, and was very puzzled by The Choir only including 3 songs from it in their March 06 reunion shows at Beachland. They did "When You Were With Me", "I Only Did It...", and, of course, It's Cold Outside", plus another 12-13 covers....all excellently done, mind you, but I wish we could have heard more Choir originals at those shows! marvin
"When You Were With Me" was also done at the first (November 26th, 2004) 'berries show.Marv
hollies65
To my ears...And this is from a guy who counts 'It's Cold Outside' among his 100 favorites of alltime...'I'd Rather You Leave Me' is The Choir's best song. I consider it the BEST song from the 60s to never have a proper release.
MJ
Well it's never too late is it? Since Wally wrote it can't he do something about it? Even if it was re-recorded with the original members? Or would it be too dated now?
Jeff
"When You Were With Me" was also done at the first (November 26th, 2004) 'berries show.Marv WOW! It's gonna be 3 years since that day soon ... Man, time flies ...
Crg2
It's great, and Wally Bryson's songs are incredible. He's so underrated as a songwriter. Now that I said that, I have rather an urge to go listen to "Last Dance ."
darlene
When You Were With Me is a great song. It may have been almost 3 years ago but the chills are still with me! --Darlene
MJ
Yes I'm taking Live at Sunset Strip and Choir Practice on the road with me tomorrow. You know when I hear Wally jangling the 12 string I just get all tingly.... he can jangle anytime he wants if I have anything to say about it lol! MJ
Ok I have more to say about Wally's songwriting....I love it. I can't get "I Only Did It Because I Was Lonely" out of my head - I've been singing this thing all day lol. It definitely should have been a hit all over the country. It's such a shame that it took me some long to appreciate The Choir's music - Wally, Jim & Dave - a biiiig Thank You for the Choir music! (and of course Dave Burke & Dann Klawon). hollies65
Yep..IODICIFSL could have and should have been a hit...it would have had to have beened released as a single first though.Oh Well.I was best friends with Dave Burke's brother in high school and remember a couple of nights a very funny Joe Walsh was there with Dave. MJ
I like Joe Walsh also. My older brother was a James Gang fan and played him all the time in the early 70's. From 1978 through 1980 I had a friend Dave Lee who owned a 280ZX with a killer stereo system in it, and he'd pick me up almost every weekend and we'd drive up to Vernon Valley, NJ at 120 - 130 mph blasting Rocky Mountain Way and then we'd just turn around - put Joe back on and head on home lol. Lots of great memories jamming there!I wish I had been brought up in Ohio lol - you had The Choir, James Gang, Cyrus Erie, Michael Stanley, and of course Raspberries.
