Love this topic!

1) Rush @ Vets Memorial, Columbus, OH, 1975. I know a lot of folks hate them, but I've loved them since this night when they just blew my teenage socks clean off.

2) Dave Edmunds @ Alrosa Villa, Columbus OH (Where Dimebag Darrell was killed) 1982. First post-Rockpile U.S. tour. Simply the best guitar playing I've ever seen/heard live!!

3) Raspberries 1st Reunion show 11/26/04 - still the best of all the Berry reunion shows I've seen(5?). VERY different set lists, arrangements, etc. from all the other shows. Plus, how can you beat the 1st Berry show in 30 years?? I cried.

4) Fountains Of Wayne @ Aloha Tower, Honolulu, HI (2003) - Fantastic band having a great night in a magical place!

5) Rolling Stones @ Cleveland Muni Stadium 7/1/78 Keith was awaiting word on his Canadian heroin-sales conviction sentence, and played like a house afire!

I saw Edmunds on the same tour at the Colony Theatre in Shaker Heights...It was Godlike!

1. Raspberries Chicago HOB 2005 (my ears are still ringing)

2. McCartney Chicago 2005 (sterling, you and I need to meet up at concerts, I guess! I have seen Paul on every tour in Illinois since 76)

3. Raspberries Cleveland 2004 (emotional high)

4. Chicago/Beach Boys Chicago Stadium 1974 (Chicago's plane was arriving late and the Beach Boys asked if they could play an extra hour? DUH! Then, the two groups played together...total show? Four hours!)

5. Eric Carmen Blue Island,Illinois 1976 (at a high school football stadium. Survivor's Jim Peterik as the warm up....opened with "Sunrise", closed with the Beatles "Slow Down". Two drummers band was so tight, I thought they'd explode. Eric was ONNNNNN! I was sixteen, had three girls offer me phone numbers that night, AND saw Eric? Ohh, for that life again!)

I don't think I can narrow it down that much. I will say that Raspberries at Carnegie Hall in Sept. of '73 is in the top 3. Also...Rockpile at The Palladium in NYC in August of '79....and of course....Paul McCartney and Wings...the Wings Over America Tour in May of '76. All truly awesome shows!!

4. All RUSH concerts prior to 1979 (saw several)

This is a very tough one to narrow down. From the 60's, definitely the first time I saw the Stones (Uline Arena, DC, Summer of '65), Jimi Hendrix, with about 200 others at the Ambassador Theater in DC, Spring of '67, then about 6 months later at the Hilton Ballroom (hotel where Reagan got shot), Moby Grape at the Ambassador in the Fall, '67; The Who/Herman's Hermits/Blues Magoos at Constitution Hall,'67, Blind Faith in Baltimore the night man first walked on the moon.

70's - first time I saw Springsteen in a small club, May '73 (Childe Harold, DC - and it was mobbed, in spite of his being unknown); first Ramones show (Louie's Rock City in Alexandria, VA. in '76), finally seeing Muddy Waters at the Cellar Door around '72 or so, The Clash at the Ontario Theater, Winter of '76/'77.

80's - a blur....too much coke......

Since - Raspberries at BB Kings, 2nd night, '05; Raspberries at the State Theater,'07; ANY of the six Stooges shows I've seen since '03; The Wildhearts at the Ottobar, Baltimore, April 2004 (waited 10 years for these guys to play the US); seeing Moby Grape again for the first time in 30 years at Wetlands, NYC, 1997; seeing The Pretty Things for the first time at Cave Stomp, NYC, 1998; seeing Roky Erickson for the first time, Austin, 2006.

1. The Choir opening up for The Who & Herman's Hermits (1967?)

2. Wings Over America (1977?)

3. The Smithereens @ Lounge Ax (2000?)

4. Jude Cole @ Park West (1993?)

5. The Raspberries (a tie-HOB Cleveland & Chicago)

The Left Banke @ the Painesville Armory & any and all Crowded House shows take a close 6 & 7.

I am blown away by the variety and sheer historical importance of so many of these concerts.

I would've killed to see Elvis, Mid-60's Stones, Paul McCartney (the only Beatle I've never seen).and so on.

This might be one of my favorite threads ever.

One other great one I wanted to mention: Elton John, Richfield Coliseum..."Captain Fantastic .." Tour.(1976-77?)My Cousin Frankie got the tics, and I was pissed that they were BEHIND the stage...But,When we got to our seats, we were practically sitting on Elton's piano bench! What a show!

Hey Danny, I was at the 1976 show at Richfield Coloseum...at least the one in August/1976. I traveled up from Columbus and stayed with a family in Bay Village. The show was so good I remember tears actually coming to my eyes. The opening with "Grow Some Funk Of Your Own" was probably the best opening of a concert I've ever seen!

If my memory is right, "Rock of The Westies" was the latest album at the time, with "Blue Moves" a couple months away from release...it was the same summer he had the big hit with Kiki Dee.

I'd say we were pretty lucky. At that concert we saw one of the best ever (Elton), in his prime, and probably about at his best ever.

Wow, like Paulie's list Huey and Rick were way better live than anyone would have known, saw them both in bars, saw David Cassidy too in a 300 seat bar in Seattle, he;s closer to Hendrix than pretty boy.

Gotta go, despite all the flaws, at the time, Wing's Over America, 1976 broke indoor concert records at the new Seattle KingDome.. on the stage.. this young kid was impressed..

Stones, Aerosmith, Fleetwood, etc all delivered when I saw them. Personally faves, not necessarily best, but maybe most surprised, Queen 1976 with Thin Lizzy opening, anytime I saw Billy, Kenny Loggins, Huey, Fogelburg, Kalapana, Heart, The Heats, Bruce always, Eagles, and Brian Setzer will make you throw your guitar away..

This is next to impossible to narrow it down to 5, but I'll pick 5 standouts - in no particular order:

Springsteen - Boutwell Auditorium, Birmingham, AL 1978

The Kinks - New Orleans Municipal Auditorium, Summer 1979

Cheap Trick - TLA Philly, Oct, 1998 (3 nights / 3 albums)

Raspberries - HOB Cleveland, Nov, 2004 (the Sunday BB King's show was probably technically better, but for sheer excitement, and a longer set list, I'll go with the first reunion show).

Tommy Keene / Joe "King" Carrasco & the Crowns / Marshall Crenshaw - Warner Theater, Washington DC, December, 1982.

Well, there are a TON of common threads here. I don't want to sound like a broken record with some of my choices. Here goes in no particular order:

1) Paul McCartney - Toronto 2005, 11th row...and the night I just knew that Linda was the one for me!

2) The Raspberries - THE reunion at the Cleveland HOB 2005. Nice & close up front, right between Eric & Dave!

3) Ringo & The All Starr's 2000 (w/Eric!) in Syracuse NY. Front row and I got Ringo's towel! Jack Bruce - oh...my...GAWD!

4) A Walk Down Abbey Road - 2000, Turning Stone Casino, Verona NY. BACK STAGE! Got to meet Alan Parsons, Todd Rundgren, Ann Wilson and John Entwistle of THE WHO - my all time bass GOD!!

And for completely selfish reasons...

5) Badfinger's Joey Molland at The Cavern Club, Liverpool UK on August 29, 2006. I played bass for Joey, and The Spencer Davis Group opened for us.

But to be fair and take me back out of it....

5) Brian Wilson & his band performing SMILE! at Saratoga in August 2005. Hearing those songs, including the other Beach Boys hits, played perfectly like the record was a very emotional experience.
