Trindy
You said it. Damn, damn. He'll definitely be missed.
sterling
That is certainly sad news. He left us far too early. To Billy K., Dan and I were both from Peoria. I never met him in high school but he used to play in a local band called "The Coachmen" of which I knew other band members.Dan went to Woodruff H.S. and I went to Peoria Central H.S. Dan's father was a band director at Pekin H.S. and Woodruff H.S. (I think that is right). Of course Dan's song "Leader of the Band" was about his father. My sympathies to his family and we all know how much he will be missed by his many loving fans.Phil
Laura
So sad to hear about Dan Fogelberg. I loved his music. Rest in peace and condolences to his family.
The Kiwi Connection
Very sad news indeed. While he had a few songs played on the radio here, he didn't get the recognition that a talent such as his deserved. (a bit like Eric, really!)I have always loved his music and have one of his albums.
blackhawkpat
Always enjoyed his song, "Part Of The Plan", even though "Longer" was the bigger hit.
hollies65
While not a huge fan, the man obviously had great taste...he did a GREAT version of The Hollies 'Tell Me To My Face' which got ALOT of airplay in Cleveland.
marvin
This pains me in words that I cannot explain. I have been a fan of Dan's music since the beginning. He was truly an inspiration as a person and a musician. I will miss him dearly, but am thankful for this music.Rest in peace my friend. darlene
I just heard this on the news and my heart is very heavy. I had hoped he would recover. This is a tragic loss. Phil (Sterling) knew his father, who was a band director in Illinois when I taught there.R.I.P. Dan. You left us a beautiful legacy and you will be remembered fondly always. --Darlene
marvin
I count Dan as truly one of the finest 'pop / folk' lyricists ever. Everytime I would put pen to paper to write a song or a poem, it was people like Dan and Jackson and Don who inspired me to think about the words and their effect on the message / song. I am misty-eyed as I type this, and tonight I will cry.
raspathens
I just love Dan's up-tempo "I'm Missing You". Sounds like a lot of us grew up enjoying his music. He will be missed.
Sherberries
Very sad. Dan had a beautiful and soulful voice, and I loved his songs! I was sorry to hear he was ill for so long.
Tim From Wisconsin
I was very sad to hear about this. He was one of my favorites. I just posted a link last week to a live performance of his in the "Come Around And See Me' section of the Board. It is worth checking out, and is very appropriate for this time of year.My favorite has always been his album "Netherlands" - especially the title track.Thank you for the music Dan...Tim

Tony Cartmill
This one hurts..."The Innocent Age", Dan's crown jewel double album was one of my top 5 albums of all time. "Same Auld Lang Syne, Leader of The Band, Run For The Roses, Hard To Say, The Reach, In The Passage, The Lion's Share, Only The Heart May Know...ALL ON ONE FREAKIN' NON-GREATEST HITS ALBUM!Can you say, "Music Genius at work and In The Zone?" marvin
I know what you mean Tony. "The Innocent Age" is a masterpiece, in my opinion. There was a period in the late 1970's into the early 1980's where everything Dan wrote was stellar. I stuck with him through his entire career, and was never disappointed by his work. Billy
Another Dan fan here who was very disappointed to hear this news --- I also really loved the Twin Sons of Different Mothers effort with Tim Weisberg....the Power of Gold and Tell Me To My Face are two of my all time favorites. Trindy
"Nether Lands" is my personal favorite...I'll never be able to play it without being able to think of specific times in my high school and college life. Had a way with words, the man did...The last thing I'd heard was that he was doing better, so to hear this is just sad, sad...I hope you guys are paying attention to what he said about getting yourselves tested. It could make a difference for you.
