marvin
I know that there are other fans out there of Ian Hunter. I been a fan for years, and thought his last album, "Rant" from 2001 was fabulous. Looks like he's set to return with a new disc, "Shrunken Heads", in May: http://bigoldamp.squarespace.com/home/2007/4/16/ian-hunters-first-lp-in-six-years-may-15.html
hollies65
Mott was a big favorite of mine as a kid. Hunter is an unsung Rock & Roll hero.
Bob Allen
'Ol Ian's gotta be pushing about 70 by now! I must admit, however, that he penned some of juiciest tunes of all time ("Roll Away the Stone" & "The Golden Age of Rock and Roll" -- my god, has it EVER gotten better than that?) Paul Davie
I heard Ian Hunter was shagging Bea Arthur lately...
Bob Allen
You're a very bad boy. Actually, he's been shagging with Terry Sylvester.
marvin
I'd give Ian late 50's, early 60's at best.Marv
Early Wynn
Ian Hunter will be 68 in June.
Keith Nivan
Here's hoping he tours! My exceptionally reliable source says the shows are great and Ian always brings a band with first-class chops. And they play a bar in the Chicago suburbs that's a short train ride from Chez Keith! Great News, Marv! Hope your are well!"K"
John P
I saw Ian live in 89 with the great Mick Ronson. His You're never alone with a schizophrnic album is in my opinion a must own. Ian is scheduled to be on Rockline soon. John
marvin
Right on with "You're Never Alone." A great album that produced "Ships", "Cleveland Rocks", "Just Another Night", and "Bastard", to name four songs. The core of the band on that album was the E Street Band.Ian is touring, check out www.ianhunter.com for more details. I saw him in the late 1980's in a small club in Mtl, with opening act Steve Jones (Clash). Marv
Paul Davie
You're a very bad boy. Actually, he's been shagging with Terry Sylvester. Ouch...that hurt. I need to go to the emergency room.
Raspbernie
I've seen Ian Hunter perform live dozens of times starting when he was in Mott. The last time was in support of his EXCELLENT "Rant" album, and I gotta tell you -- he still kicks some MAJOR butt on stage -- EXCEPTIONAL voice, SUPER COOL stage presence, and decades of INSANELY GREAT material to choose from. I don't care how old he is, SEE HIM! You will not be disappointed.Bernie
Lew Bundles
Ian performed with the Ringo All-Starrs a few years ago...He also wrote/recorded some songs on the BOUCHARD,DUNAWAY,SMITH album a few years back...I think it was calle "Back from Hell"...I should remember the title as I am thanked in the liner notes(with my real name)... marvin
I was shocked when "Rant" was released in 2000, since it had been a while since Hunter had released any material. Considering he's been recording on/off since the 1960's, in my opinion, "Rant" is as good as anything put out by musicians that have been recording over that period.Marv
Keith Nivan
Great news on the tour Marv. maybe Ian's working west-to-east in the US this summer. Some cool pictures of Ian and friends here .Mick Ronson fans will surely appreciate. So, too, will those remotely interested in whatever happened to various members of the original Alice Cooper Band. Lookin' good!Keep scrolling."K"
John P
A couple songs of Ian that were covered by other artists that turned out to be big hits were "Ships" by Barry Manilow and " Once Bitten, Twice Shy" by Great White. The Monkees recorded a great rendition of his song "Every Step of the Way".John

marvin
Nice review of the new Hunter disc, "Shrunken Heads." http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/album/14200939/review/14459272/shrunken_heads
Raspbernie
Wow! That's a GREAT review!!! If it's half as good as "Rant," it'll be better than 90% of the crap that gets released these days. "Wash Us Away" from Ian's last CD quickly found its way into my list of favorite songs of all time!Bernie
Raspbernie
Just listened to Ian's new CD for the first time and it is INCREDIBLE! Right now, the song to beat is "When The World Was Round," but "Shrunken Heads" is giving it a run for its money. Man, Ian keeps writing AMAZING tunes. His lyrics are incomparable! The music is not so shabby either. Not to mention that this CD is recorded with GREAT dynamics. I'm giving it 9 out of 10, but ask me later as that rating may very well go up!!!Bernie
hollies65
All hail Ian Hunter..I think he's now 70yrs old! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Sih9OVokuQ
Raspbernie
"Roll Away The Stone" is a GREAT tune, but IMHO Ariel Bender was a poor substitute for Mick Ralphs. He was fine in the studio, but was not good at all when the band performed live! I was at a Mott show back in the '70s and a fan grabbed hold of bass player Overland Watts' high-heeled boots and literally pulled him off the stage into the audience! Security sprung into action and got him back onstage, but that was a moment to remember!Bernie
hollies65
Oh I agree 100%...The band was really tops while Ralphs was in the band...I'm glad to find some other Mott fans...one of the 70s GREAT bands..I thought they were unknown in the USA for the most part...NJ seems to mirror Cleveland music taste quite a bit!
