hollies65
The CD is as good as the book! That Kyle Vincent song 'In The Worst Way'...That should have been a hit! I've listened to it [The cd] twice...it's going in the car tomorrow.Nice to see Tommy Keene listed at #7 in Power Pop albums.
Early Wynn
Any time Tommy Keene's name is mentioned my ears perk up. What is Shake Some Action (besides the classic tune, so perfectly covered by TK himself)?
hollies65
It's a great new book on Power Pop the Popdude put together and is available thru Not Lame Records...It also comes with a swell cd! It is a GREAT read!
JohnO
Hmmmm....I got an email from Bruce several weeks ago, stating that I owed him no additional money for SSA (ordered it over 2 years ago!), and that I'd be receiving one of the first ones mailed out - so far, no book..........bummer......but it is that time of the year for the a-holes at my local post office to start losing items (as usually happens to me & my neighbors every December)..... marvin
Haven't received it yet, but heck I'm in Canada!

Keith Nivan
I just ordered two copies -- one for me and one for the Woodstock Public Library. Some things are too cool to keep to one's self. Thanks, Popdude! And congratulations!"Keith"
Craig Benfer
Love the book and the CD. Terrific!! A must own for any Raspberries fan.
Early Wynn
I got the book yesterday. I have to agree with most of their Top 10 choices. Definitely "Starting Over", Badfinger's "Wish You Were Here", and Tommy Keene's "Songs From the Film" should be in there. Speaking of Tommy Keene, he said on his message board that he was at the Raspberries show in Anaheim, and he said they were "awesome." JohnO
Early - You ordered it on 11/29, and got it already???? Hmmm.....I need to call or email Not Lame immediately!!!
JohnO
Grrrr....I finally got ahold of Bruce of Not Lame - he hadn't mailed my copy yet (great customer service, as I pre-ordered it 2 years ago!), but says he stuck it in the mail yesterday.....He's a one-man show there now, and is very busy, but he also needs to take care of his long-time customers.... hollies65
Oh man...you must be losing your mind! It gonna be worth the wait though...and you'll LOVE the cd!
JohnO
People - PLEASE don't let my personal rant against Not Lame, probably the best source left on the planet for our kind of music (and from whom I've literally ordered probably over 100 CDs), stop you from ordering John B's book! Bruce has been busy running the company, buying a new house, and other assorted goodies....and my order just happened to be one which fell through the cracks this time. His service has always been lightning-fast and very friendly in the past, perhaps the main reason for my rant, as my expectations were high.....(NOTE: This damn testosterone therapy I've been on for the past 2 months (don't ask) causes occasional 'roid rages.....on the other hand, perhaps the Washington Nationals might be able to use me in 2008...) hollies65
I can't imagine ANYONE on this board, not loving this book. Get it now or you'll be kicking yourself in the ass a year from now!
mellie
Not Lame has also had what - THREE - floods this year and had to move the office recently? I am absolutely amazed at what Bruce has accomplished. It's probably a good thing the books didn't show up until after the move. Sorting through all of the computer records for pre-order data while you're moving to save as much of the goods from being water-damaged while you assess the damages cannot be easy. Hopefully, his move unpacking has gone better than mine. Three weeks and I've emptied 15 boxes. (In case the boss is watching: tech support is working on my work computer. I can't do anything right now.)
JohnO
My copy finally arrived yesterday, and I vegged out on the couch and read it from cover to civer last night. Great job, John!!! This is, without the doubt, the very best book for real music geeks that's come down the pike in ages - and I mean that in a nice way!!!
